I know a place where there is a carving in the face of a rock that depicts a Indian hunting a turkey. The Indian is on the right of the carving, then there is 3 arrows ( -> -> -> ) in the middle, then the turkey is on the left. It appears that there is 3 sticks or lines under the carving. There is a sun positioned above the Indian at about the 10 o'clock position. The rock that it is carved on is about 6ft tall and about 4ft wide, in a heavily wooded, lots of hills, with a marsh nearby.

I've not seen it myself, just seen a drawing of it. I hope to go soon and get a picture of it.

The people that have seen it say that the Indians used it to tell other Indians when the Turkey come through (position of sun) and how hard it was to hunt them (3 arrows).

What do you think? Could it be a treasure locator's or something besides hunting info? Have you seen anything like this?

Also ask your question in this part of treasurenet... http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/board,82.0.html

"Treasure Marks/Signs"

And there also, Nana40 asked a question about the three arrows sign...
What a strange post my friend, it is absolutely wonderful. I brings back to memory about six weeks of looking at a beautiful soapstone rock, bigger than than the one you mentioned. That was 1973 and I was doing a design Job on that hill. Someone bought the property and wanted a three story log home on the side of the mtn facing Track Rock. This big rock was across the driveway, in the woods and this is where I ate my lunch every day.
If I had spent a little time with my hobby and interest, took pictures and notes, I would have more to share. There were lots of tracks, arrows, and other symbols that I didn't note or take the time to study. Now that I am getting old, I pay more attention to life, history and those things that tell storeys.
Track Rock as it called is located in Cherokee country, I think it was five or six miles SE of Blairsville, Ga. Union County, I think it is listed on a map, streets and trips, Micro Soft.
I have often thought of that group of rocks , (more than one). The main one had more petroglyphs than others. I was living in NC at that time near Ranger, which is about 20 miles East Of Murphy. I only lived there while doing several jobs, about two years.
I have often wanted to go back there and do some study. I remember some graffiti, not much, just initials. No dates, that adds to the history sometimes.
If we are talking about the same "Track Rock" it sure gives me the urge to drive about 900 miles and stare at that rock.

Thanks Montana Jim. I posted it over in the other forum.

gnewt, I'm in Indiana, so I don't think its the same rock. Your area sounds really cool though!
