Up in CT on my monthly business trip again and I got up at 4:30am before work, to hit a park I've dated to around the 30's. Haven't found anything old there yet... until I found this. Not sure what it is... a door knob, or a bell maybe. But it was 10" deep and has a nice green patina on it. Back is encrusted with rusted iron.
A whole bunch of clad and modern copper, and this modern bus token.
After work I headed to my work buddies house where 2 months ago I found this. However this time I found a lot more.
1893 toasted Indian Head (not sure how that ended up in the yard)
1941 Mercury Dime
1936 Buffalo Nickel (was in a spill with two wheat cents)
1951 10 Francs (rang in the nickel range, came out gold... but was very light in weight. Google tells me its aluminum and bronze! Thought I had gold for a minute...)
Canadian Cent
Half Dozen Wheat Cents
Was a good day of detecting and it was odd we found such a variety in a house built in the 40's. Gave my buddy the Indian and Buffalo, and I left him with one of my spare detectors! Hopefully he makes some good finds before I return next month.
