Primary Interest:
Prospecting
Found while prospecting on my property Treasure Valley for rubies and sapphires Friday while using a shovel, 5 gallon bucket, and classifier that fits on top of 5 gallon bucket as I was getting ready to discard my gravel something caught my eye, it was actually hard to see it was so clear. The picture shows a little tint but it is actually clear, either my iphone camera or the operator must have caused that. I had a visitor to my farm 15-20 years ago and he was telling me that some of the Indians in my area made arrowheads out of clear quartz. I never thought I would see one let alone find one because I don't actually look for them I have found a few arrowheads in past but none clear while prospecting along with some pottery. This area was sort of the border between the Cherokee and Catawba Tribes they both hunted here. Probably leaning to the Catawba Tribe since a friend and fellow rockhound east of me in the Catawba area had found one similar earlier.

Very cool. I guess they used what rock they had available. It must have been a very difficult rock to work into an arrow head, because quartz is so hard. I can attest that quartz can be sharp and have left blood on a few rock faces when I was not wearing gloves. LOL. Around me, arrow heads are mostly flint, even in areas where flint is not natural - this demonstrates that the Native Indians did some trading with each other.

Found an agate skinner myself. Aside from utilizing the materials around them Indians were pretty good at aesthetic creations.

Nice point check out the Indian artifacts forum a lot of us are from NC. I dig for mine down in SC.
Nice find I am sure there are a lot more where you found that one.
Look on hills overlooking the creek or river that is where they camped.
They camped where they would not be flooded out but close to a river or stream.
Keep looking there should be black colored points as well called Rhyolite.
