In the water today 13th

Hit the water today and found a few coins,and 2 very old gold rings in poor condition, one was a fairly plain gold band the other a diamond and ruby but falling apart. It had lost one diamond and the other 2 fell out as I was handling it, fortunately I didnt lose them.I will post a picture of them but they have not been cleaned and still have black mud attached.The 2 diamonds are in the bottle.Now I have to work out what to do with them. seeya Neilo

Hey, if they were falling out... did you think of going to the site again, exactly where you dug the ring up (i keep track of the exactl ocations of good finds) and if you remember. Go dig up the ground within 2 feet around the hold, and half a foot under the depth you found it. than go home with the buckets of dirt, go in the shower and put it all into a spaghetti strainer, a nd rinse all the dirt down the drain. (sorry the drain is not a good idea, since all the dirt may get caught in the "trap" depending on what layout you have) you'll be left with small pebbles, and very well could be left with the lost ruby/diamond, or whatever, this is a good way to get all the loose stones that fall off a ring over the years. If it was in a farmers field, they are probably long lost due to plowing.
