I'm thinking of getting a new water machine and need help.

Hey folks
I am thinking of getting a new water machine after 20+ years.
I have two Fisher 1280x machines and am going to sell one.
I would like some help trying to pick a new machine.
I would only be using it in fresh water lakes.
I had an old surf master when they 1st came out and replaced it because it would leak
all the time.
If anyone has one a beach pro and would like to chime in that would help more
then you will know.
Thanks

I don't have the newer Whites PI but for the past 20 years I used a Whites PI machine that is still working and just passed on to my son. I also have a whites Surfmaster II that is 17 years old and still kicking. I purchased the Garrett Infinium and am waiting to get it back from it's second trip in for repairs in less than a year. You can't go wrong with a Whites product....

i see you have an E Track..then id think you would like the Excal..iv got 2 Excals and 2 Sovereign's and love them.but if you want a good fresh water detector with no id tones then the Tiger Shark is awsome but you cant get one right now as they have been on back order for 7 months due to a part they cant get. they are not Iron lovers like the Fisher's.iv owned 4 1280x over the years, built like a tank but they like Iron and wont work in salt water. after 50+ detectors id have a hard time giving up my tone ID! good luck.

Finding a Tiger Shark now days is very difficult unless it is used and the guys that have them hate to give them up. For freshwater your choices are many but I can't recommend any PI detectors because bobby pins will last decades in freshwater. The CZ-20 or 21 is a nice choice and for the same money you can get a Excal 1000, one of the best. The Beach Hunter ID 300 is nice if you aren't in the water much as it has been known to leak if you are not careful with the O ring. The newer 300 is lots better than the older one because the old one had a floating coil.

I am like Dixie, I have an Excal (had 2 sold 1) and 2 Sovereign GTs, one has been waterproofed and they are fantastic on the beaches. They would be my suggestion. I have heard good things on both the Tiger and Sand Shark, but never used them so can't say........

Re: I'm thinking of getting a new water machine and need help.

thanks guys!
who makes the tiger shark this really sounds like a machine to look into.
I love my 1280's but my thinking is the new ones might go a little deeper.
I had a surfmaster when they 1st came out and it had more leaks in it
they my yankees pitching :laughing9:
That is why I flipped to the 1280's.
1st one I got new and the 2nd I got @ a yard sale for like $50.00 :tongue3:
Thanks for the tips I'm gonna check out this tiger shark one

I was told by Tesoro that the Tiger Shark is temporary out of production as they having a hard time with a supplier of a part. They gave no indication as to when they would resume unfortunately. Used ones are hard to find in my area, you may have better luck where you live.

Good luck
