im new!

Welcome buddy.I'd keep digging those jars ,you never know they might be old coins in one of them. Also if ya find any pickled eggs send my way l.o.l.

Man! I'd be VERY careful opening those thing up!!!!Whew, Make sure your standing up wind................HH

I got some with food in them and alot without!! I want to sell them!! I got a few of the blue wire lightning jars. Dated back to 1898. Only a couple are newer, 1920s.

That is gross John Boy.:laughing7: If the lids are rusted enough they might start falling apart with a strong enough grip?

Welcome to Tnet, if it was me I would just keep the lid on it. If they date back to 1890's you may let out some bad stuff lol....HH

Be careful some of them might be ferminted - LOL

A video of you opening a food jar that has been sealed up for over 100 years would be priceless. Sounds like a Fear Factor episode.

I think I would leave those jars just the way they are. If you do attempt, where gloves for your hand might slip and cut yourself! Then you would be getting a tetanus shot.

For decoration use only, not food safe. And a bunch of japanese letters. Ill take a picture when i get back home.

I found a bunch of mason jars once in an old abandoned house. They were easily 100 years old and still filled and believe it or not some of the food inside still smelled good.Who ever did the canning did a good job. There were baked beans, corn on the cob, squash, green beans, you about name it it was there.
