I just took note that I have found 10 $1 coins in the 3 years I've been detecting. 1 John Adams, 1 James Madison, 1 Andrew Johnson, 1 Susan B. Anthony, 2 Sacajawea, 2 James Garfield and 1 1971 Eisenhower. IMG_0591.JPG

Dollar Coins are something I find almost daily when I hunt...although that's because I am the Coinstar hunting master

2 peace dollars, one Morgan, a bunch of Ikes and a few Sacajaweas.

this is the only one I admit to

Won't be three years detecting for me till November, but about the same for me with the dollars except for the Eisenhower. Found two of the smaller ones in a tot lot in one day. I don't keep close track of my finds. Just clean 'em up and go to the bank.

I have found several Sacagawea coins, a few from the presidential series too.
All better than digging 100 zincolns.
Also a Canadian Loonie and two Eisenhower's...nothing like seeing a big coin of any kind in a hole.
Once I found a fake two headed Peace dollar.
Thrilled at first then very disappointed when I found out it was a Two-Face replica coin sold after that Batman movie came out.
Cool but heartbreaking at the time, a couple years later I found the same coin but this one was the real deal silver dollar so I felt better after that.

That awesome finds. Love the Peace dollars. I was heart broken when in found a counterfeit 1875 seated dime. Ugggh But I was told it was made then and it became cool again.

I'd Count the 8 Reales as a "Dollar Coin "find. Never dug any old Spanish or Mexican Coins.

The 8 reales is a large dollar size coin right?

Heck ill go ahead a answer the Question.

If memory serves right I have dug 3-4 Dollar Coins All small types in almost 20 years ,tho I only hunted once every month or 2 from 2002 -2012 & hunt mostly Woods .

Ah man I love Trade Dollars!! I had to buy mine. You da man Jeff.

DANG!!!!!

Davers both Ikes and the Morgan came from a defunct football field. I suspect they were lost by the ref who used them for the coin toss before the games. The peace dollar was dug on a lot under a tree root that was where the burn pile once was located before the Catholic church annexed the property. It had fire damage (bubbling).

I have about 10-12. None are silver. Aj's and saq's . 3 in one hole at the middle school I work at.

I like floaters which are dollar bills that someone has lost. When they lose them in the water they can't see them because of the silt. You can see them laying on the bottom in early morning before the wind picks up. The most I collected in one morning was $480 some dollars. Don't know if one person lost it or what. But we had pizza that night.

Helps to wear polarized sun glasses.

A few weeks ago I dug up 55 of these beauties. "So much better than zinc". All within 100 yards in the ocean during low tide. Have no clue why someone would go swimming with so many $1 coins in their pocket unless then wanted to drown-
No bodies found. Now so much closer to next years parking pass fee.
