I'm HOT! Is the BLM flim flamming me and TimC??

There is no doubt in my mind that TimC knows the LR2000 page better than many in the BLM office-Phoenix. Case in point: He pointed out to me that the previous owner of the two most recent claims we filed for may still belong to the previous owner, even though he was delinquent. The federeal law allowing previous claimants to pay a CURABLE MAINTAINANCE FEE by Dec 4th was excerised by them on Dec 3rd. POOH! According to Tina Coladonato, in the Phoenix office, we are OUT over $400! Tina told me the recordation of those fees will not be posted for 4 to 6 weeks. Tim found them on their website this morning. Even though the Yavapai county records show Tim as the owner, Fed law will supersede. She also told me that the $400 is not recoverable because it is on the claim applicant to KNOW the status of the claim AT APPLICATION, which is impoosible with a 4 week lag time. I'm HOT! TTC

Ya know Terry, that seems quite typical of most of the BLM offices in a lot of different places.
The right had doesn't really care what the left hand is doing as long as it doesn't cause waves.
Thinking you should keep things stirred up for a while.....GL
Hope ya get your $$$$ back.:hello:

Unfortunately this is normal. We are still waiting to file new claims right now because they are still caught up in backlog. This is what happens when they have to cut personnel because of the times. We were told in November that they would be done mid January but they are still backlogged with the holidays & everything. They had no choice but to cut back on personnel just like everywhere else. All of the paperwork is filed by hand unfortunately & this takes a lot of time. Sorry Terry, you're not alone by any means. It's always best to check to see if they are finished updating the log before filing anything these days.

Interesting question- would you pay higher fees for better, faster service from the BLM?

Mine it and recycle it!

I wouldn't, because government in general has become so bloated and inefficient, that they would find a way to blow the money and resume their snails pace. They have no reason to excell, no competition breeds mediocrity. JMHO
