I'm considering a whites 6X10DD.

I have a dfx300 right now and wanted to check out a different coil. I hear the 6x10DD is a great all around coil. What should I expect for performance vs the 300 coil. I'm mostly a coin searcher doing house lots, parks and farm fields. Any other suggestions on coils and why???

The 6x10 has replaced the stock coil on my DFX for areas you describe. Just about all my hunting is Schools and trash parks. The 6x10 has good depth 7"+ and being a DD it has great separation compared to the stock concentric.. Weight is about the same as the 950 (unfortunately) . I really wanted the SEF 6x8 (very lite I hear) but I got the 6x10 and the Ultimate 13 as a trade with a Whites Dealer for an XLT and Whites 10" DD (hated that boat anchor) I had. So no access to SEF..
Anyway, the 6x10 has not been off the DFX other than to do some curb strip hunting with the 4x6. If you have never used a DD on your DFX you will probably wish you had bought the 6x10 years ago after you use if for a day in low to moderate trash. You will need to bump your recover speed a bit with the DD. For clean areas the 950 or U13 would be the go to coils.

Coils help match you to your site.. Lots of nails (every 2 or 3 inches) the 4x6 is your club. Multiple targets 6-15" apart the 6x10 is you club . No to low trash corn field or beach the round stock is your club as it is deap an has a wide pattern Slides nice on the wet sand and bumps around stubble as it is like a saucier on the bottom . No to low trash no stubble the U13 is the club, very large, well balance and about the same depth as the stock only with a longer field at depth unlike a concentric which ends in a pointy cone at max depth..

6X10 dd and the 10x12 sef are all I use, both real nice coils :icon_thumleft:

I have the 6x10,9.5,& 300 coil the that i use on my dfx the 6x10 stays on about 90% of the time .It has good depth and separates good on trashier sites. If I had to pick one coil of the three it would definitely be the 6x10.... But then I also hunt alot of trashy sites..

Thanks for all the replies. What is the depth range in coin sized targets with the 6x10DD on the dfx?

I'm considering a whites 6X10DD.

Also, how would it compare to the 10x12 sef as these are the 2 I'm considering. I never really considered getting a new coil until recently. The only 10x12 sef I see is by Detech. Would this be the optimal 10x12 sef brand? I don't know much about sef coils. What's the difference between that and regular DD? Pros and cons of each would be great. Thanks!
