I'm Back!!!

Last weekend was a bust as I hurt my chest/shoulder doing something stupid on Fri which is not unusual. I have nursed it all week & its good to get back out there!

We went to a late Roman Site which looks like it continued into the Saxon period - very unusual!
(4 hours 45 minutes)

31 Roman Bronze Coin
1 bad Roman Silver
My first fragment of a horse head 4th/5th C Roman Buckle
Tudor Clothes Fastener
Acorn shaped Tudor Belt Mount
My most complete 6th C Saxon Brooch:headbang:

A Sceat from circa 650AD, full ID to follow - Series K/N I think.:headbang::headbang:

Could it be that there were a few tiny glasses of some liquids involved? :laughing9:

No, the annoying thing was it was on the way to the pub, so it hurt even more.:laughing7: (this is normal for me although as I'm getting older, things tend to hurt more:tongue3: )

As always great finds Cru! Glad your at it again!

Missed this catching up the outher day. NICE....not seen this type before, it is close to the series you mentioned. But the reverse is slightly different, could be figure holding cross in left hand, hawk in right:dontknow: The obverse also I can't quite make up my mind if it's a hound, dragon, or centaur . Have you recorded it, it will be nice to know th full ID...nice find, pity it never got more replies and questions about the coin, doesn't seem to happen a lot these days.

Forgot to update:

'An excellent coin, Series K/N (Type 16/41) which I have recorded'

Congratulation on a superb day, hard to top like usual!

I love the sceat! They must have had tiny hands for those minuscule coins

Just over 1g of silver in the mid 600s was a lot of money, size is relevant to it's comtemporary value.

Beautiful little coin, congrats! I hope to find one some day. HH, Mike

Nice coins and brooch!

The coins of this period are extremely rare in my country ... were used Roman coins of the late period until the tenth century .
a interesting coin .... Congratulations!
