I'm back in action!!! Cleaned pics. Beautiful Maine Staff coat button

and New York cuff button found today! Got back my Nautilus Saturday and today was the first day I have ventured out and let me tell everyone I am a happy relic hunter tonight. I decided to go back to a Union camp I had hunted years ago and dig every little beep I heard ..........whether it registered as non ferrous or not. This place is littered with iron nails that mask the good signals and some of the relics are deep so at first they register as ferrous yet once you dig down a few inches the signal suddenly turns into a good one. Today did not dissapoint! The soil here is excellent so I know the buttons will have plenty of gilt. I found 3 buttons today but my best was a beautiful Maine coat button with a perfect shank and a Waterbury backmark. Maine buttons are pretty scarce in this camp. I have found 2 others here but it was many years ago. Most of the state buttons that come from this camp are New York and I did find a New York cuff. I also found an eagle button to finish my day with 3 buttons. I found 2 of the big boy 69's that I love to find , 2 54 caliber bullets , one round 44 caliber pistol shot and 6 bucky balls. I also found my first coin of the year. Late in the day I dug down into a pit and out came the 3 iron rifle bands and a horseshoe. There are alot of other signals in the pit but I did not have time to dig it out since it was getting late. I will have to finish digging it out later in the week. It was filled with ash and a few bones so it looks promising. They may not be Confederate buttons but I will take a coat Maine button anyday. I will post a picture of everything cleaned up later tonight! Devonrex

EXCELLENT finds!

Pays to dig all those chirps. Makes me wonder what it would take for me to clean out most of my housesites that are chock full to the brim with iron junk.
