Can you measure the gap in the two holes (centre of holes) on that oval piece - is it about 22mm?

Re: i'm almost ashamed to post this now!

Keep a note of this with the coin, its dads ID:

The ST mint is the Second Officina part of the Ticinum Mint (Pavia, Italy). It is a FOLLIS and the Obv is CONSTANTINVS AVG (Constantine the Great) and Rev is DN CONSTANTINI MAX AVG

VOT XX (can be 3 but I think this is 2). I attach a copy of an EF one. That one’s year is AD 320-321. But AD 322-325 if there is a crescent below the XX (which I think there may be)

We have never had this type or mint

If there is a small crescent (small banana shape) under the XX but within the inner circle then its a slightly later date.

Shaun, if you can find all this stuff with the Lobo, 'Don't worry, be Happy". You will find those great finds
also, just keep working at it. Nothing wrong with the Lobo to see these finds!

Hi Shaun, great that you are getting around more and now beginning to find nice stuff...

But just don't get the idea that its the XP detector finding all that stuff, although it is great. Remember the first time we stopped and
showed what we found that day? I had really a lot and a couple hammereds including a neat short cross and quite a few romans.
My large pouch was already about 1/3 full. Its about hearing what your detector is telling you, and working fast to get the object safely out of the hole.

Our whole team of 4 guys all search with the XP, but I am always the one with the full pouch that has to empty it often because its too heavy.
I first had a somewhat bigger coil, and the guys thought that must be it. So the next year they all had the bigger coils, but who found the
most? PS. It was not the diameter of the coil that made the difference.

Its that way now with the XP, but Shaun, back a couple of year ago we all 4 of us had Lobo's, and guess who still had the heavy full
pouches. It started out that we had Fishers and Whites, but I bought a Lobo. Well I had full pouches with gold and everything in
the first year, and of course the next year two of my buddies also had lobo's. But still I found more, although it was somewhat less
(they continue to study me I know, but I still have a few hidden tricks up my sleeve). We have been doing this for the past 11 years
now and they still can't catch up...

Its not so much the detector as to getting used to the detector, and not spending much time on your knees, as our
friend put it. That produces much more stuff, and in between finding all that junk and iron you will find your great
items. I know what I am talking about..... I think I make about at least 150% more holes than my mates, but it
could be about double that also. Think about it...

Cru observed very carefully in those two days, he got the clue and is getting into the groove now! You will too in time.

Good advice, to be honest my technique has not changed much from meeting you (I'm a pretty quick recovery kinda guy, it becomes instinctive), its just that I have a better machine now. I've always dug a lot of junk & enjoy clearing it. I appreciated the settings you PMed me as it fits my style of hearing all & deciding myself. Most UK detectorist like some form of discrim & normally at least discrim against Coke & Iron. I like to hear it & often dig it as well, depending on the amount of it on the site. Any form of Disc will limit depth & make iffy signals more iffy - & I like iffy signals. I'm still far from understanding all that it has to say but I'm learning quick & by the end of the year the results will paint its own picture.

Hope we can meet up soon to do more hunts
