Well, Heck then. I went to Washington Park yesterday and found a couple of Wheaties and a 1917 Mercury dime. got my loot for the day!

Been skunked on oldies at Washington Park twice, got a wheatie there, and deep clad. I've seen some nice stuff come out of there though. Last time there I went looking for neighborhood work right around the park. Seems like everytime they blade some dirt silver rolls out, according to a couple guys I've seen hit it big there.

Thought about taking a bobcat through the midway there myself. Think anyone would mind? You guys ever worked Union Park? Humboldt? I know there was some curb/sidewalk work at Humboldt last year but just missed it. Probably gonna take a run through in the next couple weeks to see if they've cut any dirt open for me.

I work near Humboldt Park. I wouldn't detect there by myself. I'd recommend a partner or two or ten.

But I'd like to hunt there someday...my family comes from Humboldt Park, lots of family history there and it would be cool to find some old coins that perhaps had been dropped by them.

Yes, Humboldt park has gotten better. there are less changes of being shot Dead theses days, you might get hit on a leg or arm by a stray bullet or flat out getting stab but what would treasure hunting be without a little excitement!!!

Last fall my buddy and I were hunting a block in Elgin and less than half an hour after we left a drive-by shooter hit two or three kids on the block. The thing to worry about is not that they're shooting at you, their aim sucks, but that they're shooting in your direction. I hate being an innocent bystander myself so I usually cuss at 'em just in case they manage to hit me by accident.

That's the reason I dig over size holes, just in case I get shot at I can always jump in it!!
