Ike Hunting?

Hello Randreoni,

Welcome to the Site!!!

I have not found anything in Ike ive looked threw 500+ of them.

I do remember reading some guys on here have found Morgans, Peace Dollars and American Eagles.

Happy Hunting,
CC

Welcome aboard RD. I don't search Ike's per say, but often ask when I am at banks if they have any large dollars. By asking this questions, I have picked up one Morgan and three Peace dollars. It nevers hurts to ask and take a peek if they have them.

There are some here that search Ikes and have found some silver so they must be out there. good luck to you. Keep us posted.

Happy Holidays

I got an1883 Morgan asking for Ikes once at a bank. The teller said "I have a funny looking dollar". I said "I'll take it" (sight un-seen)...LOL. I just picked up a $1000 bag-o-Ikes. I haven't started on them yet.

My thousand dollar bag of Ikes where all Ikes but there were some Silver ones in the bag. Good luck with that bag.

Thanks
Cat

I found one 40% in the last bag.

I haven't found a silver or a proof yet however I did get a 1972 Variety II this year, which is a fairly rare coin.

The bank called me yesterday and said they had $200 in halves for me.

When I picked 'em up, it was two hunnert Ikes. Shucks.....

But then again, maybe not......

They were in four plastic bags of $50 each. Edge search of the bags revealed a '71S and a '74S ~ both 40%ers.

Alas..... woe is me..... no 90% "big dollars".

At least I wasn't skunked.

Thank you all for the insight. I'll now be on the lookout. Finding a Morgan or type two Ike would be sweet!!

I'd be happy to get 2 -40's outa that bag. A peace or Morgan would be great too.

Wouldn't it, though?

This was just an edge search from one bag, saw the "silver lining" through the plastic, and had to open it. I still have that bag, plus the other three to look at.

Busy right now, pinching the heads off'n bugs, have done 'bout twenty pounds, still have over ten yet to pinch.

I'll look the Ikes later today or tomorrow, and post totals in a new thread.

Fer them ah you'ns don't know what "pinching heads" means, well, I'm heading fresh shrimp from souf Jawja.... Wild Georgia Shrimp. Caught 'em yesterday.

I have some 40% and 90% Ikes. The 40 are silver clad and the 90 is a proof coin. Some of the 74 and 77 were accidently made with silver instead of nickel. Also some of the 76 were silver.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure no Ikes were minted in 90% silver. Some of the proofs were 40% and that was it.

Never found any silver while searching Ikes, but I sure have found a lot of Ikes! Soooo much cupro-nickel...ahhhh....I've found a few '73's, but that's it.

Here's a tip for you large dollar hunters in North Carolina: a relative of mine that lives near Murfreesboro spends Ikes, Morgans, and Peace dollars. Yes, at face value. Might be worth coin hunting there. (Lots of mercs floating around, too!)

I've searched $700 in rolls and 2- $1000 bags. I found a 1974s (40%) and a
1973s (clad).
