IF YOU LIVE OR PAN IN COLORADO PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
I was wondering if you can help me. I have been married for 20 years and this is the first vacation my wife and I have taken. We never even had a honey moon. I really do want to show her a wonderful time. She has always wanted to go gold panning so I bought some gold pans and a hand Sluice along with a lot of camping gear. I want to take her to Colorado. The problem is, I have no ideal of where to go. I don't want to end up somewhere there is no gold or even worse end up on someones land or clam. Can you tell me where we can go camping by a river or creek that has some gold in it. I'm not trying to hit the mother lode, although it would be nice. I just want some place that she can get excited over some color in her pan. We live in KS and will be coming into Colorado on Hy 70. I would even camp on private land if someone let me. I am planing the trip for two weeks but will most likely cut it a little short. Please if anyone has a heart, help me. LOL J/K. But I could use the info. Thank you, BEAR

Google Gold Panning and Prospecting Colorado.
Figure your route and stop where you can set up your little operation without being disturbed.

There are surely places on the eastern side that you can pan and prospect and camp at the same time.
I am not too familiar with the eastern slope but it shouldn't be too hard to sort out.

You might also check with Bill Chapman out of Golden, Colo. http://www.goldendetectors.com/
He can point you to some possible areas along Clear Creek. The town of Black Hawk has lots of casinos if you have a mind to give some of your gold back. LOL It's a long stretch of uphill climb to get to with elevations about 9 to 10 thousand feet, but the views are fantastic. In the area are Idaho Springs, Central City. Being as how you're on the front range w. of Denver, drive slow going through and coming out of tunnels. Coming out of one tunnel, we had bighorn sheep and antelope cross the road in front of us.

Might join the GPAA. They have properties all over the US with a few here in Colorado that you can go out to and pan. Membership is around $70.00 and you get a book with the claim information and the directions on how to get to them. Might be the ticket for you. Point Bar on the Arkansas River allows panning, its open to the public, the gold is fine but all over the place. Its down stream of private claims so just keep working there so you dont have to worry about memberships.
If you have no equipment you wont need a permit I believe , check with the BLM office, and there web site, it has all the info.
Anyone can find some gold panning in this spot. its fine but plentiful, no hope of nuggets.
Also the cache creek area is open to panning, a permit is needed to use any equipment but panning in the pay dirt will always yield something.

In Golden in the park by the baseball fields you can find gold and its open to panning only. I used to get gold in every pan but now its a bit more hit and miss. Flakes up to the size of a dime have been pulled out of there. But expect dust.

Other places are hit and miss or private or have million dollar condos on them now.

do some more research into these areas and you will no go home empty handed.
