If ya got em, smoke em

Dear friends, I live in Eugene, Oregon, where pot has been pretty much legal for many, many years. Less than an ounce will net you maybe a 50 dollar fine....

having lost a wife to cancer, a girlfriend to a brain Tumor, other family members to cancer, etc. etc. i am keen to anything that can and will help out with the pain and suffering. Just lost a good friend to cancer a couple of months ago, as a matter of fact. Shaved my head over the new years to raise money for donations to the CTCA, so its something i am familiar with, to say the least.

Some thing I am also familiar with is the ability of people to use excuses to back up their recreational habits. I'm certainly glad to see that all my treasurenet friends have legitimate reasons for smoking marijuana. It'd be pretty sad person to use a cancer patient as an excuse to sit their ass down on the couch and smoke pot for no good reason.

Jeffro,

Good to "see" you, again. (still waiting for those pics you promised :laughing7: ).

My sympathies go out to you - for so many losses in your life - I know it really sucks. (I have three family members fighting cancer right now)

And, I applaud you, for getting personally involved. I've been involved with other organizations for years, and it is always good to see someone share their most terrible life experiences for the good of others. I believe God has a special place for folks like you.

And, while I, personally, think pot is less harmful than alcohol, I agree with you 100%, to NOT be using the suffering of people for their own purposes. It belittles (and hurts) the process for folks who could use something that can get them through bad times without being asleep, or knocked out.

 :coffee2:

by using "twisted logic" as many folks do - you can make the "facts" fit whatever outcome you wish it to be -- ala -- I can prove that 100% percent of the people who were born died --so by the numbers --being born is 100% fatal * see how easy it is to link "A" to "B" ?-- via nonsence "science" --so if anyone did anything in their life --it could be said it might have lead to their death , just like "living" leads to death 100% of the time -- as the old saying goes -- there a 3 kinds of lies --there is lies, damn lies and then there is statisics .

pot sadly competes with tobbaco and alcohol * -- which both produce a lot of taxes for the US fed and state govts -- so its in the fiscal interest of THE GOVT AND THE TOBBACO AND BOOZE COMPANYS to keep pot illegal (ITS THE MONEY THING) since if it was legal - people would quite simply grow their own rather than buy "govt approved" pot --and in todays world the govt would be hard pressed to take folks to court and have them serve jail time for not buying "govt grown and "approved" weed' vs smoking home grown weed --few if any juries would uphold -- only the govt can grow and sell weed stand .--so the govt says -- since we can not control it and profeit off it. --its illegal to grow and have. -- as far as medical use goes since its a "natural medicene' big pharma can not "patent" it so they too want it outlawed so it can not compete with their "patented" meds .

Heya Beth, as you can see one of those pics is now my avatar ;) I do need to get some ore up though. Little guy just turned 13, groan..... officially the father of a "teenager" now YIKES!

Ivan,

:laughing9: :laughing9:

You have my "joke" line.

I have friends who have all kinds of concoctions to make them "younger", more "vital", diets that make you feel 20 again - and then tell me about all the things that is happening that can hurt you.

To them, I very often tell them "living causes dying", 100% of the time. :laughing7:

Also, your part about "facts fitting the desired outcome" reminds me of that old joke - its all in how the questions are asked. "have you stopped beating your wife?" :icon_scratch:

 :coffee2:

Beth

PS Jeffro - I did see that. Gosh, 13 already?? My "baby" turns 40 on the 20th. (more groaning). My granddaughter is a freshman, and my oldest grandson is getting ready to graduate next year..............I just can't understand this "new" math. They used to all be SOOOO much younger than me. :laughing7:

I hope he is a "good" teenager. :headbang:

Pot does have medical uses, I personally smoked it for the same recreational reason I have a drink once in a while.... I personally feel the government has no right to tell me what I can and can't do or enjoy in the privacy of my own home when I am affecting or hurting no one else....

Hi BETH: I am sure that you will agree with me on TH posted --> there was no amount of self hypnosis that would stop the pain I was suffering,
**************
Hmm we disagree here since the same system that was signalling the hurt is simply turned off via suggestion. Many times under emotional stress it is inadvertently turned off. This has happened to all of us.

As I mentioned, the key is 'preconditioned response'.

Major operations were performed in Japanese prison of war camps by hypnosis due to lack of proper materiel, so they were forced to rely on hypnosis alone, successfully.

Don Jose de La Mancha

p.s. Red, this series is primarily for your reading and information.

Don, thank you for your concern, it was interesting reading, but am sticking with what I am doing now. Fibromayalgia isn't a simple disease, for some it is mild and easily controlled by medications, and there are ones like me who have it so bad it affects every aspect of your life. The pain is widespread throughout your whole body, often it is accompanied by RLS, which is severe for me. it can cause depression, anxiety, There are days when I cry because I am so tired because I can't get much sleep, my stomach is messed up, so is my back, I get bursitis in my hips constantly. I have one leg going numb due to diabetes, plus I have other medical problems and am on a s%$tload of meds everyday, I could go on but I won't, do I like using MM? No, but I can see the benefits I'm getting by smoking, at least this way I'm more comfortable. The body high is so wonderful, you can go from being in 10 plus pain on the scale, then you feel relief, there is no pain, or so little, you can handle it better. I try relaxing methods also and exercise when I can, I'm not looking for sympathy or anything, I'm just letting you know that MM does do good, if used right, and by the people who really need it. LOL your not far off Jeep, there are different strains for different reasons, I found one that works really good for my pain and nausea, and it helps me to get some sleep. :icon_thumright: Red P.S. I'm not trying to promote MM, it isn't for everyone. But I know what does work for me, and that is all that matters.

I empathize with you - 100%

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia some years ago, this, after - no exaggeration - 12 blood tests, a few mri's and a couple of ct's. (docs eliminate every other cause).

My pain is not controlled - or managed - it just is ---- what's the word - its brought the level down. One of my bigger problems with
Fibromyalgia, is that - when it is really bad - my body adds to it by getting shingles (shingles is very opportunistic - when you are stressed
or worn down, like when you are having a real bad bout of pain for a length of time, your defenses get compromised). At least shingles only
feels like someone is stabbing you with a red hot ice pick in a few areas, instead of your whole body.

I've done the shots, the pills, the blocks and the whole nine yards. It gets to the point where pain is your starting level (your #1, in 1 to 10), and it is the status quo. I know it sucks, not just to walk or stand, or that wonderful feeling like you have black and blue marks in every muscle - but, you cannot lie down or sit, because it hurts to touch a sheet, or a blanket or the couch.

Sound like what you go through? Again, I empathize. But, I have learned to live with it, because I don't have a choice, and, diazepam and pain pills
help. For something like Fibromyalgia, it is super important to NOT take pain pills when you are in pain and cannot stand it anymore. Sounds silly, I
know. But, I went to a pain clinic for 2 or so years, and, if you take them every 4-6 hours, regularly, maintenance is easier. The pain clinic doctor explained about keeping a "level" in your system. (not pill level, pain level), and try to manage the spikes, and you do that by regular meds. (among other things, of course). Like a diabetic, you have to try to maintain, rather than treat the highs and lows.

I did learn a type of - I don't know what it is called - a combo of self-hypnosis and yoga - kind of like they teach you in LaMaz classes. It seems to help.

I would not wish Fibromyalgia on my worst enemy.

God bless you Red, hope your feeling better.

It works out better in cooking if you transfer the active ingredients to butter and then cook with it.

In shake form it seems to release the active components more completely.

I have a few good recipes including one for spinach lasagna. Keep it away from Chug :laughing7:

Not that I would know anything about this, just keeping up with the High Times :laughing9:

That sounds good, I am also looking for cookies, and other treats that are easy to carry. Pm me please! Thanks! :hello: Red

Saw this on a walk in the woods one day, needless to say I moved along quite briskly! God Bless Chris
