Carefully cleaned find after returning home and kept well out the gaze of any prying eyes before handing in to local RCMP for a possible return.
Posted on local lost-n-found FB pages that a ring of value had been found and also tried to join the FB community page, with clear intentions for joining, that the ring had been found in without any luck.
After 90 days had passed I was contacted and was asked if I would like to claim find and arrange a time to pick up from our local RCMP detachment exhibitions department.
Was a little surprised no owner was found though was happy to claim find and felt content to have had made an honest attempt at returning ring to it's rightful owner, not only for my own sake, but also for the sake of any other fellow detectorists, young or old, who may also happen to enjoy detecting the public park from time to time.

Very nice find You did great trying to find the original owner. Not all lost items have surviving owner . Then some times the items are lost for so long people just give up hope and no longer look

I try and follow this rule, no special markings, initials and date to indicate an owner and less than 8 grams of higher than 10k gold, alright to keep..

I believe it is a good motto to keep in mind when treasure is found.
