I remember those from when I was a medic in the Army (1986-92)and they were used as backboards that wrapped around the injured person so they could be carried out of the area. They were old when we had them so I think they are from the 1960-70s time period. I doubt they are still used but may be.

Well it does appear to be a litter of sorts. The military usually had a contract number, lot number, DSA/DLA number, stock number, and nomenclature stamped on items. But there were times that items were COTS purchases (Commercial Off The Shelf). Are there any markings on it all?

No markings, thats why I was unsure if it was in fact military

Yep it is a stretcher, specifically called a Reeves Stretcher (aka Reeves). Still used on ambulances today. Instead of the canvas, they are a "sealed canvas" that can easily be washed and usually orange with black straps. They work great to roll a patient onto it, strap them, and pick up or carry down steps. Hope it helps.

Reeves - I had forgotten what those things were called.
