I'd bet there was a trip to the woodshed.

LAST UPDATE: ha ha ha! Just HAD to share this! LOL

The whole title of the post involved this wheat cent spill. All 5 were in the same hole.

Unfortunately, the ground ate too much of them for restoration. :(
BUT...I was able to see what the dates were. HA HA HA! Have a look and take my word for it, the first coin is 1945. (see new pics below)

UPDATE: Some good news, some, not so good;

I've gone as far as I'm going to go in cleaning the F.E. or the IH. (see new pics below)

The IH just won't get any better than this.

The F.E. ? Because of the degradation of the combination of metals that make this one up, I KNOW it will not get any better, just worse.

All I've tried is a bit of soap and a very special, soft brush. The metal is just too pitted to even attempt any further.

On the good side, the IH is fine the way it is and the Flying Eagle, well it was lost in such fine shape that just about all the detail is still visible.
I am just feeling very blessed to have found it and given a chance to stop the degradation for future viewings.
What is suggested to seal the coin?

Thanks for all the responses!

Went wandering my new spot again today. There wasn't a whole lot of digging nor finds. But, that's kind of why I like it here. Not much, but soooo much quality! The potential on every hole just makes it a thrill! Really beginning to enjoy life again. But, I wax poetic.

Here are the finds in one lump sum.

And, here they are a little more organized.

You bullet guys know more about these than I ever will. One of them says UMC Hornet. If that helps.

IMGA2184.JPG
IMGA2185.JPG
The back of the buckle, which, was right on the surface, just under the grass! :)

IMGA2186.JPG
A pipe cap? And a lump of iron.

IMGA2188.JPG
IMGA2187.JPG
These 5 are all wheaties and are the reason for the title of the post. They were ALL in the same hole! About 3 inches down. I just bet somebody caught a whaling when it was found out that they had lost FIVE WHOLE CENTS, especially back then!

As an aside, I mentioned before that there is a bit of experience in knowing what coins might have a chance to clean up. I'm afraid that these are not looking very good. They've already had a bit of soap & water. I'll try but I'm not expecting much from these. :( So sad.

IMGA2190.JPGIMGA2189.JPG

Now this one, I think has a fair chance. :)

After I found this one I thought to myself, "Self? I think I'll take a few pics of the next one to show how shallow these have been turning up."

So, after a few minutes, I got the type of hit that hinted at another Indian Head.

FE1.jpg

I looked down the hole and said it's a little deeper than has been but it'll do.

FE2.jpg

It was getting dark so I switched the settings.

FE3.jpg

A little better. At least it can be seen. :)

FE4.jpg

When I uncovered a bit more I saw that it was a bit thicker than the others.
I said, "Good! A nice 'fattie' to demo!"

FE5.jpg

I got it out and thought, this has a good chance to clean up well!

Then......I flipped it over.

FE6.jpg

HUH!?!?!?

That's right! I did it! AGAIN!!!! :happysmiley:

FE7.jpg

Here it is safely at home, but notice, it hasn't even had a bath yet.
IMGA2192.JPG
See why I thought "fattie"?

IMGA2193.JPGIMGA2195.JPG

No, this one will need EXTRA special care! I doubt it will be as good as the avatar of mine, but......

WAAAAAHOOOO!!!
