Good morning ladies and gentlemen I dug this metal detecting in Atlanta GA 3 days ago it is lead. Close to a very old tree I dug it
 

Odd piece. Pretty sure it isn't lead. Maybe cast brass? It is precisely made. The center part is a pivot point. My first thought was "bicycle brake pad/shoe". But I couldn't find anything even close...

There's something going on that isn't quite clear in the photos. In 1 & 2, it appears there's a thinner strip attached to the right side that's been folded under. Is it the same on the left side?

I have something very similar I found at a homesite, still don’t know what it is
Was yours close to a tree as well?

Yes kind of , right near early 1900s foundation
