I printed up some flyers and went door knocking, if people were not home I left a flyer taped to there door. I chased down a farmer on a tractor, I think that one will turn out to be a real good one. Looking at the maps, there were in mid 1800's allot of farms down that area, especially on the one side of the rd with all the farm houses on that side. Nowadays all those houses are gone and the fields are all there still. The farmer told me he leased every field on both sides of the Road ten times the acres I did last winter. He took my info and told me I had a very good chance for permission, he would get back to me soon! Little while later I went to another farmer, caught him behind his house working on a tractor. He said I could come back in Dec. and have at it. his farm goes back to the first settlement in that town. Either one of those two farms should keep me busy for years!
So I left there and hit a field/front yard permission down the street from the farm that nothing could be found. His field looks like a golf green, so I decided I didn't have to wait until the ticks and chiggers were gone. I did get attacked by black flies even with bathing in 40% deet. They wouldn't bother me until I hit my knee to retrieve the target. It was 88 degrees and blood was streaming down my legs and back (little exaggeration) I only lasted two hours, found a concave button, cuff-link, 1902 Indian Head cent and a 1902 V nickel. I then ran home to the safety of my air-conditioned home. I think I'm going swimming tomorrow.
