I was wrong about Simplex

Hello again Coinboy,

I received an email from the company and they will not be adding a 20 tone option! Too bad, this would make the machine a truly great detector.

I believe on this one they are being short sighted.

Regards,

Professor

Thanks professor. Aw man that sucks. Since then I have upgraded machines but I am keeping Sinplex, it’s such a great machine!

Yes, I agree! I bought the machine as a throw in the car detector, but I've grabbed it most days for the last two months. Fun detector and as deep as the ATPro in my soil. They need to increase the audio tone selection in each mode (i.e. 2, 3, 4, 5 ...10 or 20). The user should be able to select the number of tones per mode. The pin point function should be an ON/OFF function, not hold down. With these two fixes the machine would be fantastic and really grab a larger piece of the beginner and mid-range market.
Agreed about the pinpoint button. It should be toggle as opposed to momentary, especially being such a stiff button as it is. More tones would be nice (at least 4) but maybe at the least a wider interval of tones so the mid tone is much lower than the high tone?

The pinpointer was a tough learning curve for me with the stock coil, and my thumb was worn out!. I added the smaller SP24 coil and I never use the pinpoint now. The small coil is right on the money every time as long as you get a 90 degree swing from the target then slowly pull back the coil, the target will be right at the tip of the coil where the tone disappears. I do this in the water too. It works for me!
Happy Hunting in 2021!

Many of the differences these days between lower end and mid priced detectors come down to "features" that can be implemented 100% in software with no hardware changes. With that said, Nokta has no desire to compete with their own machines by adding additional features to the Simplex for "free". It makes no sense for them to do that. Why would you buy a Racer if your Simplex had all of the same features for half the price? So at this point, they've decided the Simplex is good enough for the price point and will add no more new features which makes complete sense. We shouldn't be disappointed that Nokta is taking this stance. We got a heck of a lot of detector for the money we spent.

My biggest complaint about the machine has not been addressed in this thread yet. I can't stand the tones on Field Mode. I understand that people who hunt relics in actual FIELDS will likely disagree. But as a yard/park/creek coin shooter, having a tone change on you based on how deep the target is offers me virtually no benefit and is very disconcerting. I either want my tones based on target ID (like Park 1/2) or just give me one tone period! And because of this, I never hunt in Field mode. I use Park 1 and only change to Field mode if I need to double check a weak target signal.

.

That's how I see it. I was surprised that they kept tweaking the software, brought out inexpensive shaft fixes etc. When I bought it I figured that if nothing else, it's a back up water machine. It turned out to be a decent overall performer..............particularly for that price.
