Hadn't had any luck at this old "house" from the outside, so decided to crawl under. It was murder on my back but well worth it. My first seated coin, and a half-dime to boot which has been on my top three list of things to find. WOO-HOO! There was no room to dance, so I had to limit myself to rolling around on the ground and shouting :D

It had a nasty yellow corrosion on it and I tried some conservative cleaning to no avail. The pics here are after some improper techniques, but I'll never sell it and it's a common date.

The "house"--

No still yet. I drank enough shine New Years though that I haven't even cared to look for it ;D. I'm still looking for the well here though. Hope I don't fall in it :o.

Nice post! Enjoyed the house pictures, nice pics, always nice to see what a person means by "I crawled under the house" LOL. Congrats on the find, a little bit of silver are in those half dimes. There could be a cache hiding around there somewhere. Do you know the history of the house? Is there an old outhouse near by? I would dig it out if there is. You could even try the walls. I have not tried this but, removing the coil from the stem and scanning with just the coil in hand might make it easier, up and down detecting will wear out the arm fast. You could try just shortening the stem as well, might be easier than removing the coil. HH, Mike

How do you get permission to hunt in those classier neighborhoods? ;) That woud be called a mansion if it was where I live. :D Are the owners millionaires? I was once a thousandaire when my tax refund came in last year....for about ten minutes. :o Then I was broke and my wife was a thousandaire. ::) Monty

That is awesome! I love the pictures of the house......and under the house. :)

Great job! :o

Great find! Tsgman

WTG MXTswinger! I did the same thing to find my 1908 "v" nickel. It was creepy as all get out, but I was rewarded sweetly. It's my oldest coin to date. The house I found mine under was quite stable though. Glad you got out okay!

Moon

This was a mansion during the depression for sure ;) Probably even nicer than your neighbor Mr. J.D. Clampett's ;D

Seriously though- My Dad lived on the same farm in the 40's, but in the "nice house". He says that the last occupants were some hobos during WWII. I'm guessing draft dodgers. Hopefully they were Communists with a communal "stash" that they left behind when the Sheriff evicted them. ;D .

Sometime after this, the structure was converted to a chicken coop. I've circled the horizontal roosting poles in the next pic. There are also nesting boxes nailed to the walls inside. I still need to go in there and look for a "nest egg" ;D Some other misc. pics attached including the mysterious well box in the weeds with no well under it ??? I definitely get a cachey feeling when I'm there. Thanks fer lookin.

Kevin

P.S.-I haven't found the first pulltab there (yet). :o
