Hadn't had any luck at this old "house" from the outside, so decided to crawl under. It was murder on my back but well worth it. My first seated coin, and a half-dime to boot which has been on my top three list of things to find. WOO-HOO! There was no room to dance, so I had to limit myself to rolling around on the ground and shouting :D

It had a nasty yellow corrosion on it and I tried some conservative cleaning to no avail. The pics here are after some improper techniques, but I'll never sell it and it's a common date.

The "house"--

Awesome!! I'm glad you survived recovering that. The structure looks sketchy at best.

Congrats on a excellent find, the photo looks like the type you see in treasure magazines and dream of finding something good underneath, and you did!

Cool! Still hunting one of these myself, I see that they hide very well!

I'm pretty sure you are right on that Jeff. I wasn't expecting to find a coin that old here. My Dad is pretty sure this structure dates from the teens or 20's. The mid 1800's road passes by about 50 ft from this structure though and there are other houses in the immediate vicinity on my map from the 1870's.

Cool find. I do know if I would have gone under there. Kudos to you!!!

Believe me, I did a lot of "looking" before I decided to do the crawl ;D.

Very Nice find...Congrats...Is that an 1853? In my neck of the woods...that would be a house still under construction. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Very nice find, WTG!!!
I still remeber my only half-dime like it was yesterday. I found it back not too long after I started detecting. I didn't even know what a half-dime was. I thought a have-dime was a nickel... ;D When I first saw it come out from the ground, I didn't think it was even real money....

The site looks like a great place for more goodies...
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

what a nice find! :) way to go get em and be aggressive. sometimes youve got to get into those nooks and crannies.
