I want to thank all veterans for their service this memorial day... Thank you.

ARRC,
I do acknowledge your good intentions; many thanks,
Don

I cannot help but get a "vibe" that it struck you "off" that I am thanking Vets on Memorial day... when most Thank them just on Veterans Day...
Welp...
Let me just say this... :)

I am thanking ANY and ALL Vets... AND enlisted... EX- enlisted... AND their families.

Which in my opinion should be done by EVERYONE on Memorial Day... AS WELL as Veterans Day...

I do not look at Memorial Day like everyone else it seems...
The people who died have ties with the "others" in life...
And I think "especially the vets" should be acknowledged on this day in my opinion...
Besides ...
I cannot thank the dead and buried... for their loss of life...
I can only thank those who have survived the loss.
FOR...
It was THEIR comrades... AND friends...
That have died.

And me... I would rather thank them ANYTIME I can... And do...
Anytime I meet one :).

See I know a little about "the other people"... because I am one. :)
As well as my mother was and grandmother and on and on...

My great great great grandfather was wounded twice in the Revolutionary war and fought until the end of it.
My great grandfather fought in ww1 and barely made it out.
My Grandmothers brother was killed in WW1.
My grandfather... who was killed as soon as he stepped foot in the water at Normandy.
My other grandfather who was also shot stepping foot on the same beach and made the beaches of Normandy
MY other grandfather who flew through WW2... Korea... North Korea... and Vietnam... Shot down SIX... I repeat SIX times in his career. 4 times in water and twice over land.
and turned down General so he could fly... retiring as full Col.. with 37 years of service.
My grandmother... Coast Guard.
My other grandmother widowed in Germany with two small children.
My dad - Seabee and Lieutenant in Navy.

People say man... you were never military ?

Me I only made it to Military School... where I initially received my dive training and first certs.
and could have went on to West Point or ?...
But life had a different path for me it seems.

Oh PS> My Grandpa is also an Aviation Pioneer... ox5 aviation pioneer...
And in the Aviation Hall Of Fame.
And Flew planes before he could legally drive a car.
My grandmother had to drive him to airport :P

A LOT of veterans came home....but they left their hearts and minds on the battle field. My Dads last words were, "Oh, I hope they all got out!" He was still in his B-17 over France, on fire and going down. After 45 years he was still re-living the moment, right up to the time of his death....8-17-89....R.I.P. Dad....

The only people who see the end of war are the dead..may they rest peacefully, they have done enough..knowing there's others carrying the torch of freedom
