All Treasure Hunting
A dream came true! A few months back my pops and I were on the hunt for a new place for some treasure hunting. The town I grew up in was founded late 1800s early 1900's and was originally vacationing area for the wealthy folks during the hot summer days which has since dwindled out. Nevertheless, we've had some pretty decent luck in the area, most of the locals know us and are usually more than happy to let us check around their properties. About a mile or so from home were recently granted permission to hunt a 10+ acre property that once had a golf course, hotel. There's still a few summer homes and a church that are still in use today. Anyway, we took with our new permission and hit the ground running and have had some amazing finds along with a few bucket listers. Here's a few of my best finds so far with the exception of a few! Between dad and I we've managed to pull two Spanish silver coins, 20+ large cents/big coppers, 40+ U.S. Silver coins, an 18k and platinum ring, 18k Religeous Pendant, Possible gold masonic piece. *Note that not all finds are pictured above*. Picture of the four big coppers, dates are 1797, 1798, 1818, and the last one wasnt legible but think its a KGIII (1760-1820). This property has been amazing, one of our best yet!

Wow I sure dream about finding a place like this someday. Love the Barber Q and the gold masonic pin. Awesome digs!

What a fantastic spread of history!

That little Masons piece is just killer.

You have a very nice selection of finds... jewelry and coins!

Congrats sir.

That's one of my favorite pieces from this place! Im pretty sure it's from a J.R. O.U.A.M. badge. I've never seen one made of gold though. But for it being 4+ inches deep being this clean and no signs of plating, It almost has to be gold IMO.

wow, totally amazing place and hunt, congrats. yep, you stole my dream

I said this a few days ago and applies to this post too, and that is.... Isn't it funny how a great site is just a great site and will give up many keeper finds, some of which are not at all similar to the others. What I mean is all the early coins found sort of go together and make sense... but then the other misc. jewelry items show. And that's exactly what I know you mean about having dreams about a place like this. I've hunted old sites where we've dug target after target and at the end of the day had nothing very impressive... but I've also hunted sites that were loaded with keepers, some of which were very different types of finds. Clearly it has everything to do with who occupied the land, but you sure do not see it coming.

The misc. copper does not strike me as a George III, or a George I, but does seem to resemble a Nova Eborac. A CT copper would likely also have some similar busts. Too bad it's not a little better.

I haven't dreamt of this place because my mind didn't even know such a thing could be thought up.

Congrats on the great site and all the amazing finds!
