Sent a photo to Gem Mountain and they think it is Yellow topaz. I'd be happy with that....it's big enough for 2 nice rings for me and hubby. That's all I was really looking for in that creek anyway. :icon_thumleft:

What do you think about Gem Mountain's ID from the photo as Topaz?
I say it's a good guess due to the pale yellow color but would still want more evidence to make a positive ID.

What do you think about Gem Mountain's ID from the photo as Topaz?
I say it's a good guess due to the paleness of color but still tough from a photo.

Not sure, I'd begin looking at the most common minerals, for the probability is its one of them.

Most of the montana topaz I've seen has been brownish to colorless.. In fact got one here in faceting quality. ;D
