I think Im ready to up grade?

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

No matter what machine you go with, it takes time to learn what its telling you. Even the simplest detector takes practice to get the best out of it. Someone with a lot of experience with a cheap detector will almost always do better than someone using an expensive detector with no experience on it. Good luck!

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

Well, I still have not upgraded.I just dont know which one to get, My BH is finding ALOT of stuff! I'm just wondering if there isn't much rings and old coins where I'm hunting?(which is everywhere!)I totaled up my finds,Im well over $600 worth of junk finds that I sold to get the upgraded one.I buried 4 quarters the other day to see if it would pick them up at 8 inches in dry sand, IT DIDNT! I always do little test on it to see, but when the ground is wet, it does alot better but at the same time, it beeps on tree roots.. :laughing9:......anyway, just thought I would update on the 'upgrade'... :-\
Im looking at this alot here lately....Teknetics T2 Metal Detector
It just looks like a simple machine.

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

Now I'm not an expert but I do read. And under your avatar it says you are from florida.

This would make things very simple for me.

Take a trip to Kellyco

Just an idea. Seems to they would let you try what ever you want and in a basically the same type soil.

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

I think you have to make that decision on your own.. If you get the detector you want you can say man am i right on i am great... If you buy what some one recommend's and you don't like it then you will be very unhappy with that person and hate your detector............

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

Yea, you guys are right.About like cars, They all will get you there, but some have ac and heat..

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

I think I'm in about the same position you are...although I haven't found nearly as much great stuff as you.

I currently have a MP MPX detector I got at Kelly Co and wish I would have came across this forum beforehand. I just spent about 2-3 hours detecting and came home with a little hunk of scrap metal that was on the surface. That is all....was so bummed I started to make a coin garden in the backyard to try and "get to know" my machine better. I dug 6 holes, 1" to 6" and put a penny in each. With my sensitivity ALL the way UP, I could only detect the penny at 3" I'm no expert, maybe pennies are harder to detect, no idea but I was expecting more. I'm going to do the same for dimes/nickels/quarters so i have a spot to check out the new detector when I do get one.

I've been considering the MXT myself, don't mean to hijack your thread but does anyone have any input on the MXT vs the XLT as a good all around detector for someone who wants a MD that will grow with them and is advanced enough to keep them satisfied?

About how much do they cost as well? It is listed as "call for price" on Kelly Co. Would like to have an idea before I call them to get a new coil for the MPX which better be covered under warranty (the mount to the shaft is cracked where the plastic screw goes through)

Re: I think I'm ready to up grade?

i have been swinging a bh 202 for almost 4 yrs now, i have found some nice stuff. recently my dad gave me a whites eagle 2, it pinpoints easier. i get discouraged with my 202, but then all of a sudden i make a good find. i once. with my 202, located a signal that read 10 inches, i dug a foot deep and it still read 10 inches. I was hunting on a riverbank, in sand. i finally found a 1 gal paint can at almost 3 ft. so i know it has some depth.
with my eagle2 my deepest target yet has been bout 6 inches.

i am getting a tesoro deleon for my birthday in october.
