SMALL UPDATE ON THE BUTTON: SEE BELOW

I was riding around looking for some dirt to play in today and I
happened to go by my cornfield. But, when I looked there wasn't
any corn, not even stalks? Just a long, flat field like the old abandoned
football field I go to sometimes. I had to take a double look but there
it was, my cornfield, looking mighty flat and inviting! :icon_thumleft:

Now I know that they grew soybeans there this year and they'd been
harvested. But, I didn't expect to ever not have to stumble around
in this field! :)

Sorry for the buildup but, really, the results were still pretty typical
for me in this field. But, at least, I didn't have to stumble and bounce
my coil off cornstalks every blessed sweep! It was fun! :) The ground is
still uneven, but not much more than an old school yard.

There's always a chance here, lots of history! And, it's ready for an all
winter hunt! :) (as long as it doesn't snow, sleet, ice, frost, freeze..... :dontknow:

But, enough prattle....on with the finds:

2016 (677).jpg

As you can see, pretty typical walk in a "cornfield". :dontknow:
The nail and the razor knife are included.

2016 (679).jpg

Quite a diverse collection of lead, huh.

2016 (682).jpg

I *swear* !! I can find clad ANYwhere!! LOL

2016 (680).jpg

Blingie's kinda fixated on the bit of shiny.
I was kinda wondering just what kind of
fishing I was doing today. :dontknow:

2016 (683).jpg

Again with the fishing lures!?!? :dontknow:
I kept shooing Fishy away but he kept coming
back! I thought he'd know better!

But, then.....I looked a lil closer!

2016 (684).jpg

OH MY!!! No wonder that lure works so well! ;)
If you wanta see it better, look up
"Little Cleo WIGL Lure". ;)

2016 (678).jpg2016 (681).jpg

Remember what I said about there always being a chance here?
Well, I did manage this one lil evidence. I can see what looks like
the letters "AN" near 12 o-clock. Might also be a "V" just before them.

2016 (685).jpg

The front isn't much help. Not sure if my tired eyes
are actually seeing an "S" or "8" in the middle. :dontknow:

So...that was my day. How was yours?

Thanks for peeking!

So Whadi,

Someone obviously went fishing for fresh sushi to eat with the edamame in the field? :icon_scratch: Great hunt, congratulations! Sub 8-)

Great post, nice finds! Congrats and HH

The button is pretty much as expected:

2016 (687).jpg
2016 (686).jpg

Reading clockwise from about 8 up around the top:

"TREBLE STANDD"

2016 (688).jpg

at about 6 o-clock I can make out a distinct letter "J" and either a "T" or "D"

I still dunno but it helps ID the period. Why the "STANDD"? Maybe a short version of standard?

Anyhoo, thought some might like to know.

Thanks!

Yes Treble Standard.

However as you may know, it appears every so many Years button makers Changed their Backmarks.

There is also TREBLE STAND'D with a dot under the second D

And yours appears to be STAND'D someone who knows buttons should be able to date it.

the ones online are in such bad shape it would take someone who knows.

Yep, but they wouldn't need to know very much to know more than I do about buttons. :)

I did some investigation and I did see that STAND'D and the STAND D(with a dot) but what
I didn't see is the words "TREBLE STAND'D" in that order. Most of what I saw followed the
word "TREBLE" with the word "GILT". :dontknow:

Thanks!

Thanks!

And, don't worry about it, your detector won't be speaking to you for a while anyway. Remember? ;)

There's always the pin pointer. :sly::D

Yeah, but how many times have you been lead astray by your pinpointer? I can't tell you
how many times I've rechecked a hole/area with it and just kept finding all the junk the ATP
was discriminating out! LOL

I sure wish someone would give me an example of a button with the words "TREBLE STAND'D" ...
in that specific order! :dontknow:

O.K. I give up! I can't find an exact match. Must be doing something wrong.
Feel free to add on if you're familiar with this STUPID button! LOL

I ended up giving up also.
As I suggested earlier what i found online were too bad of shape to read .
Or not the right ones. hopefully that means rare :laughing7:

Great finds. Too bad the button can't be read clearer.still a great find.

Nice finds and great pictures. Ask the farmer, what he plans to grow next year.

Thanks for trying everybody. This button isn't much in the way of a treasure. But, it has become a bit of enigma.
I hate enigmas! ;)

One thing I can see is that the "STAND'D" is exactly that. I was able to clean up the section and it actually has an
apostrophe stamped in between the D's. Still soaking to see if I can get any other hints.

Love your post and finds, as usual. Blingie and Fishy are the bomb. :-). Congrats. -Lisa & John

That's where my name came from Gary
Treble calour stand D google that back three years ago it was the very first button I found, when I googled it it told me how the colonist used gilted buttons to trade with the Indians. I was hunting in a well know Lenape Indian camp in Greenwich NJ

I'll look for the button

Good finds, I share you love for soybean fields! My ghost town site is a no-till corn field :BangHead:, but 2 years ago the farmer put in soybeans as a second crop. When he harvested, it became a field of dreams!!!
