Detector(s) used
Minelab Safari with SEF 8x6; coming soon: FORS Gold+
Hey folks!

I haven't posted for quite a few months because I haven't really done much detecting at all. For some reason unknown to me I suddenly lost interest big time after I came back from my vacation last July. I almost sold my Safari but glad I decided to hang on to it.

Anyhow, my wife recently got a new job and had to take a three hour drive early yesterday morning to where she was going to go through orientation for the company (but her job is local). I decided to go with her and bring my detector and just goof off all day long. Well, long story short it appears the Sacramento boys left me some silver to dig up. Not coins, but some interesting items nonetheless.

The first find was a nice little .925 ring with a clear heart shaped stone. Only down about four inches in the park turf. The wife then called to pick her up for lunch, and when I came back I decided to hit another park. That's when I pulled out the odd sterling piece below. I suspect it's the cap end of a silver case for a single cigar (a cane tip also came to mind). The hallmark says "Yamas" sterling with the number 60. Not sure what that's about. After cleaning I also discovered the number 493 on the rim of the cap. Not sure this means either. This item was down in the turf about six inches. I can see why it may have been passed over by a detectorist, as another hole I dug nearby produced a few unidentified metal pieces that rang in like a silver dime on the Safari (+37).

Enjoy!

Ray
