I love it when folks drop the dimes.

OK. I admit it. You drop your pennies after you leave the convenient store, I'm gonna pick 'em up. People laff at the codger bending down to snatch a (hopefully) copper coin. I don't care go ahead and chuckle. :laughing7: Lately tho' I've been picking up more and more dimes amid the zincers. Gotta love it! Is that where my latest keeper Rosie a '46 came from? Could be.

BTW to follow the rules found 2 dimes and 3 pennies (1 copper) on an after work beer run Today! Score! :hello2:

I pick 'em all up, pennies to dollars. One time I was in line at Wal-Mart and the wait was long, I scanned the floor and just under the edge of the conveyor belt thing I saw green backs. I put my foot on it and pointed to something at the opposite door and told my girlfriend to look, well she did and so did everyone else in line, as I knew they would, I knelt down quickly grabbed the money, faked a shoe-tie and crammed the bills, yes bills in my pocket. When we got outside she was like, what were you pointing at? I pulled out the money and had a 20 and two 10's. I did the distraction not because I was ashamed but so no one would try to claim the money. It had dust all over it and had obviously been there a while. I always find change when we go out, often I spot a coin from 50 or more feet away and she says " how do you see them?" We were out last week and my 7 year old son was with us and he said "look dad" and was holding up a penny he had just found. She looked at me and said" Well, you've taught him well?" I told him good job, put it in your bank at home. I know change really doesn't seem like it adds up to much, but think of 30 years of found money and then you have a nice little amount. Any penny I find is one more than I had. Keep on pickin' 'em up or better yet, leave 'em for me. :laughing9:

Great Thread!! I once had an office partner that drove a BMW convertible that would throw her pennies out as she drove. She went bankrupt and lost her BMW. BOO HOO! I pick up every penny, nickle, dime, etc. I wear a suit and tie and am not in the least embarassed that I pick up change. As someone said if I dig it up why wouldn't I pick it up. It adds up. Its all in the thrill of the find. HHHH

My husband says I'm 'bad after a penny' but I don't care. I had previously posted about picking up change near the registers at the store but after seeing others' reply, I don't feel so bad about pocketing that, either. At the end the of the year I collect all my clad coin finds and buy older coins. I keep everything older than 1970.

Im with you on this topic buddy! I am keeping record of every coin i pick up this entire year and so far I have found about $6 worth of change. Even found a 1956 Wheat so far! Keep picking them up! Ill post my finds at the end of the year!

Not only do I pick up pennies and other coins, but I pick up aluminum cans, plastic bottles and beer bottles. Recyclables are worth more than a penny or two or three or six!

OK i posted my finds for one year in the i couldn't believe my eyes these are finds from only one carwash in bills and clad i found two thousand dollars and one gold chain so far in the past three weeks have been almost twenty dollars i also pick up any metal to scrap. a penny down is a penny found :laughing9: happy hunting Ron

I keep track from January 1st to December 31st to see how much found money I get in a year. I have found as much as 80 dollars in 1 year and as little as 6.

Heck today alone I picked up 36 cents. I am not shy and can usually spot them several feet away. One day last year, 2 co-workers and I were driving down the street to a restaurant for lunch and I stopped and turned around. They asked me what I was doing and I said that I thought I saw a dollar on the side of the road. Sure enough, it was a dollar and they couldn't believe I saw it driving by.

Now I've got them looking for coins and such as they are walking. :hello2:

Just picked up a nice bracelet this way the other day it was at the Mall and it says Faith hope and Love,,,I know I sure love finding stuff,,,keep looking down,I do it for a living as I look for Undergroung gas and Electric lines at work all day. it just seems natural to look down and Pick up Pennys and nuts and Bolts and tokens etc...
Good luck with The Eyeball Finds

I'll pick up all change. I also ask the every cashier at every store I go into if they have any "unusual" or large coins in their register. I usually end up with Presidential dollar coins or half dollars. But, once I got a 1997 Jackie Robinson Commemorative Dollar (Red book appx $90).

My 6 year old son even knows to ask now.

It makes a lotta of sense to pick up a cent. 8)

I think it's funny how people look at you when you do that...I don't pay them any mind. It's money after all!!

I am a fond professor of the idea, "Money is money".

I worked for the local government and one of our tasks was to empty street baskets. The small kind on parking meters.
One time I was pulling the liner out and saw green in a clean tissue setting inside of a hotdog container.

I realized it was a dollar, so since I had two pair of gloves on I reached in and pulled it out just as two teens walked by. The one commented "Look at that guy. He must be hungry! I wouldnt reach in there for anything!".

Just as he said that I pulled the green out. It was a dollar. Then another. Then another. Then another, for a total of $46.00! I then said to the one teen "Not even for fifty bucks?" and laughed as I stuck it in my pocket.
Now everytime I see him walking down the street, I see him looking in the tops of the street baskets hoping to find the money that I have in the past, LOL!

Evidently someone had bought a hotdog and a drink with a fifty and being in a hurry kept the change in the same hand as the dog and napkin, then just threw it away not thinking the change was still in their hand.

I love forgetful people! After all, I am not just a client, I am the President!

This is too good, I just had to add my 2 cents worth. YES........I pick up pennies whenever I see them. My favorite convience store always has change to be found. Spotted a shiny quarter last night. My eyes are always to the ground. I, also, once found a ten dollar bill at the register in Walmart. I told the lady in line in front of me, "You dropped your change, ma'm". She said it wasn't hers and went on her way. I picked it up and put it in my pocket!
My best friend has seen me pick up so much change everywhere that now it's a contest who can find the most "treasure".
