Hi everybody!

I am new here. I have always been a treasure hunter, but I am new to metal detecting. I used to find marbles in the backyard at the house I grew up in in Louisville, KY. It was built in 1925. Also found a 1916 penny under the sod when my dad was preparing the yard for a swimming pool. I found a few arrowheads, a scraper, and possibly some tradebeads at a local park. My family collects any kind of rocks or fossils that interest us from anywhere we might travel.

I love old stuff and history and being outside in nature. I've been researching my family history for a number of years. I like to garden. I like to do ceramics. I like dirt. ;)

Right now I am living in northern lower Michigan. I'd like to start MDing but we really don't have much money, so I will probably start out with a very basic model. I've been enjoying morel hunting and berry picking up here - edible treasure!

Just wanted to say hi! :hello:

Heather (della terra)

Welcome. check out the old copper mines.

Hello and welcome aboard Heather!

Thanks everybody! I can't wait to get out there and start detecting. Not sure if there is much to find where I am - it has always been quite thinly populated in my area. I'll find out... Also can't wait for a thaw! Come on spring!!

Hi Heather, welcome from N.Y. !! My family is from northern OH near the MI border and some are in lower MI. There are a lot of mid 1800s farms in MI and I am sure if you get permission to hunt some of them that you will find cool old coins and relics. Be sure to check out craigslist and ebay for good used detectors. There are lots out there, many with warranty still on them. You can get a better machine for the money used than new, just like most things. Good luck and happy hunting!!

Welcome aboard from S.W. Texas. H.H.H.! (Happy Hunting Heather)
