I got ahold of a locksmith on my cell phone . He only works from his truck . I explained what I had . He said his minimum service fee was $25.00 - I told him that was a little too much and I would continue to try to pick it myself . 5 minutes later he called back . He asked my location . I was in town getting ready to medal detect an old field where people walk their dogs . He was there in 3 minutes ! He looked it over , went to the back of his truck and pulled out a huge ring of flat keys . The 5th one he tried worked ! He said '' no charge ''

Washington Quarters- 1963 , 1965
Canadian Quarters - 1965 , 1963 , 1967
Roosevelt Dimes -1946 , 1960 , and two 1964
nickle -1946
Wheat - 1961D , 1941 , 1964 , 1959(two)
Canadian pennies - 1941 , 1940

The new quarter I put in a few weeks ago to see if it worked . Sorry for the delay , the big storm we had Monday has made this week pretty hecktic , the National Guard still has alot of roadblocks up everywhere - massive flooding , trees across roads , etc.

Haven't you opened this yet?
Not yet - still trying . I don't want to damage it . I found a phone # of a local locksmith , so that may be my next step .

Ever try a luggage lock key. They are the simple blade type of key that this lock appears to be. Wouldn't think it would be that hard to open. I would concentrate with the lock thats on the back. Looks simpler to me. Good Luck Keep us informed.. MidnightGuy

I agree that it looks too good to smash. Locksmith gets my vote. Just hurry, please.

Try using one of the keys that fits in the lock. Hold it over a candle until the key becomes sooty. Place the key into the lock and twist. Remove key and look where the soot has been removed. This will show where the key need to be filed. Repeat smoking and filing until lock opens.
That's an excellent idea. I never thought of that.

Well done Mojjax. What a find. I've been waiting, obviously like others, with huge anticipation. I dream of finding treasures like that.
I reckon you should keep them all together - as you found it (get the key ;D) and let the people you want to show this to, feel the same as you did when you got to open it.
Cheers, Mike

With all due respect MindHunter - you're either missing the point or, you haven't revisited the revised beginning of the post. Cheers, Mike
