I knew I'd get a War Nickel!

I went for a two hour lake hunt at treasure island. When I got there with the boat I ordered my new CTX 3030 over the cell phone that I will pick up tomorrow! WOO HOO! I jumped in the water after a quick scan for that darn water snake. I went over the area where I have been pulling all my good finds, at one point I thought the snake was rubbing against my leg and I yelled like a man (loud low bass yell) and jumped a country mile. Haaaaaa, good thing I didn't have a heart attack. Not much action on the lake this time of year. I was happy with a couple wheats and a 1945 War Nickel so I pulled the anchor and headed home for lunch and youtube videos of how to use my new machine!

Enjoy the pix

It's still about getting over something to be found. ANY machine will find if you're hunting the right places. I seemed to do ok with my
poor ole Garrett Groundhog, (in Philly), in another lifetime. AND, it can't do 1 tenth what the machines now can do. :)

Actually it's my area, the history just isn't as deep as down there, plus I'm still a rookie

Ya can't argue that the ctx isn't a beast, that things insane

Nope, wouldn't dream of arguing. Nor paying to have one. I have enough insanity, thank you. ;)

That pesky wife of mine is my only obstacle from getting one, lol I suppose something nice for her would help change her mind

Who knows? Maybe you'll get one at the baby shower, lol.

The best detector out there is the one you know how to use...but sometimes things are a little to deep for some detectors..

Yep, welcome to the CTX club.

I know that some people will resent the following statement, but the Garrett will probably just collect dust in your closet in due time.

George, Whadifind and I met a guy with a CTX that said he had been detecting since 1995 here in Pa and still hasn't found an LC! How do you explain that one?:tongue3:

EXACTLY! I've already said I didn't get the ATP simply because I could find things down to China. ;) If I do, and I find that 20 dollar gold piece, then I might look into something that does. :)

About knowing one's detector? My record for a find with that Groundhog was a wheat cent, over 13 inches deep. And, no, it didn't slip down in the hole whilst I was digging. After I got down to a point I started doing an archeological type dig. It was laying perfectly flat, still embedded in some clay. I've yet to do that with my ATP. Although I did dig up a toy truck at about 17 inches. ;)

I use an AT Pro now and tell myself that if I ever get the CTX, that I'll still need the AT for trashy areas like cellar holes. Is the CTX also great in places like that?

If he'd stop wrapping it around trees after a bad find, it'd probably work better for him. ;)

Ok it's takng a wierd turn, I love my atpro, but it's obvious the depth just ain't there as opposed to the ctx
I found a seated dime at 10" this spring, yes w the atpro, that hunt is my avatar pic!
So that doesn't help my argument much lol

I forgot the part about the Black Diamond Club wouldn't let him join because he'd get all the finds at their hunts:laughing7:
