Any guess as to what this could be? Found about 7" deep, during low tide (no waves here), under a rocky layer. Ferrous metal. It was rusted up pretty good but I was able to knock it off. Any chance it's maritime-related?

There have been quite a few shipwrecks along DE's coast, so that is what I was leaning towards. But, most have been down further and not up this high that I'm aware of. The most famous ones here are the Faithful Steward in September 1785, the DeBraak in 1789, and the Count Durant in 1783.
