I have seen a lot of rocks, but i have never seen one like this before. I found it about 100ft above sea level partially buried on the coast of northern California.

This rock is EXTREMELY heavy, non magnetic and has small sparkling flakes that look similar to, but slightly smaller than pyrite.

The outer layer easily breaks off and it looks like there is a dirt between the outside and inside.

I can barely scratch it with a nail, it is extremely hard.

Anyone know what this is?

Granitoid? A fresh surface would help greatly.

Someone else told me it looked like granite as well.

What do you mean by a fresh surface? The third picture in the second post is the inside of a piece i just broke off.
