Me and my buddy possum went on his permission that has an old cemetery, some plots dating back to the 1800s and I detected on the other side of the Shell Road and picked up some beautiful sterling religious pieces. The sterling crossed didn’t have that Jesus on it when I found it I thought that’s just how it was until I checked my hole again and then I found Jesus, so I can TRULY say I found Jesus. I had a great day IMG_0012.JPGIMG_0012.JPG
Initials B S on the backIMG_0012.JPG
Another Sterling pieceIMG_0012.JPGIMG_0012.JPG
Not sure if it’s silver or notIMG_0012.JPGIMG_0012.JPG
And while waiting at my truck for my buddy to come I just swung around this tree and lucked up on his beautiful ornate piece of something. It was a great end to a great day. IMG_0012.JPGIMG_0012.JPG

Very nice, all 3 pieces appear to be marked sterling, strange how so many came out of the area. Maybe someone had a very busy necklace that broke and spilled the pieces in the area? Looks like it would be worth going back to hunt for more pieces of sterling.

Amazing Truth! Congrats!
Love that crucifix. Are you going to fix it? The ornate piece may be the escutcheon from a casket lock. It might show signs of being Nickel plated.
Great work and keep swingin!

I’m gonna fix it 100% Reannnber!!

I love this hobby because there’s the “wondering” aspect as well.

Thanks for the tip Kace. Can you shine those up?

T..Do you know what the ornate piece is made of?

The Cross with the different scenes on it is called a 4 Way Cross. The medals with 3 eyes are from a Rosary. Should be more of those around.

I'd be headin' back there if I were you! Lots of great stuff you've found and there's No Way there's not a lot more..especially if that's a predominately Catholic cemetery.

Check all the parking areas and where caskets were carried from the hearse or church if there is one there. If that cemetery is old, the caskets were carried on biers... which also could be what that ornate piece came from if it's an Old cemetery.

To me that engraved crucifix looks to be from the '30's-'40's. Very Nice!!...All of it is niiiccee!

Kace the ornate piece I believed to be brass. What’s a good way to tell? I just rinsed it with water. P.S. thank you for all the nice things you just said. IMG_0012.JPGIMG_0012.JPG

I'm glad you found Jesus, nothing better.

Awesome day!!! I have an old cemetery on my property dating from the 1830/40s to early 1900s...the only thing I've found around it is shotgun shells and 22 casings...(It's in the woods and all overgrown)
