More than likely pewter. It does have a crest on it but I can't make out the lettering in the ribbon at the bottom. Please post a picture of the back. What is or isn't there can help et your button properly identified.

I see elements of the British Royal coat-of-arms including the letters DROIT. Rampant lion and unicorn... Something like this:

It looks old but hard to say for sure. Others will likely chime in on this one.

That is the design that's on it, the back is plain. A British military museum said it King George II or King George III period, but the design that would tell decide which is in the center, and it's missing.
I have dug military relics from the Revolutionary War through the War of 1812 at this site.20210123_114037.jpg20210123_113917.jpg20200408_053242.jpg20200201_101847.jpg20200201_102126.jpg20221004_103732.jpg

Is it the picture or does the center raise up?

It looks like a spacer, perhaps to a chest or small trunk. The center hole would have had a piece/pin go through it.
It was someone at the British military museum that said it's a button.

Lets see a photo of the back if you could.

I believe it was a button but the shank either broke leaving the hole or possibly was driven through the front causing the raised lip.

I'm told it's a button, and the raised center would have had a mark for either King George II or III

I think it could be a cut down lead seal / cloth seal. The hole was added and perhaps it was repurposed as a button or something else.

Here's a thread showing one that was found by a member here --

Note that I have offered some corrections to what was said about dating the Royal Arms on the seals shown in that thread.

For the arms shown in this thread, the emblems and their arrangement which would allow a more definitive date are unfortunately missing.

Thanks for the reply, I think that may be it. Mine has the same script around the crest in the center. I have found 3 seals at this site, but all have been Board of Ordnance seals.

Yes. I was told that it would be from the time of King George II or III, the the crest to identify it further would be in the center, which is missing.
