Not just a point, couple owe an apology. It would not be smart to repeat this on another new member.

Anyone who saw a post disappear.....

Treasure hunter, I sort of think he was joking at the end. However, incase he wasn't, I'll say my apologies. Not because I was told to apologize either. It is not my nature to hurt another's feelings. Searcher, I'm sorry. Really, we're you serious about your basement being along a river? Good luck in the future, and if you need to ask a question, do not hesitate to PM me. I'll honestly help all I can.

Personally he probably is 11, age should not matter, shouldn't treat any new member here like that...Other mods are in agreement as well....

Nothing wrong with being honest as long as it is done with little respect.

A good experience for an 11 year old, on artifacts and internet forums. My sage advice to the young man would be to destroy those as soon as possible.
Nothing good will ever come of them except the lesson you just learned part of here.

I agree, sooner or later someone will try to sell them as authentic.

Seacher welcome to TreasureNet....

My girlfriend was going through an old trinket box the other day and I reached over and pulled out a point and said "wow, I never knew that you had an arrowhead"... she looked at me and said "I made that when I was in high school" :happysmiley: ... My untrained eye and lack of knowledge with artifacts just made me assume it was real... Had someone been trying to sell it to me though, I'd be very skeptical.

Wierd. One of them has wire on it.

Hey there kiddo.. if finding real arrowheads interests you that's awesome and alot of fun! Just being outdoors and exploring is cool. See if your parents can help you out. You could not keep me in the house when I was your age.... still can't..LOL. It's healthy and alot better than video games.

hey hey searcher
i found my first arrow point in a dried out creek channel in 1965
i also found a 45/70 brass rifle shell casing on a hill next to the creek
they were the start of my interest in this hobby
it is just plain good clean fun and a great hobby

Hey Searcher! Just want to welcome you aboard. Indian Welcome.jpg

I've been hunting Indian artifacts for quite a few years now. I've got my granddaughter (Age 4) interested in hunting artifacts & she found a nice one last year. Of course she loves looking in our driveway for neat looking rocks/gravel, her favorite is holey rocks & "jellybean" rocks.

Ahhh.. memories ... I started in the driveway too.

My apologies to the young man. I actually thought it was someone trying to yank our chain.

That's what I thought as well reaper. For an 11 year old to even care about native American artifacts blows my mind. Searcher, I respect you for your young age and finding a place to learn about them. Please, what ever you do, don't stop hunting or posting. If we seem a bit harsh or cruel at times, we are trying to toughen you up. One tip, if your basement is on that river, try hunting out side of your basement. I promise you will find better points and receive compliments from us. Make us proud, get out on that river bank!!! Good luck partner!!

Sometime we get together some pretty cool beginner packets for new hunters. Kinda gives you an idea of what to look for when hunting artifacts. Ask your parents if it is ok and have them PM me and I will send you a t-net starter pack. It will be cool.
Keep searching.

welcome to the site searcher.

You have such an advantage over all of us old codgers, when we were 11 years old computers were virtually unheard of, the net wasn't invented. You have a powerful tool at your disposal, the fact that you could post a pic puts you way ahead of a lot of us already.

Stick around, observe, ask questions....in a short time you could become extremely knowledgeable.

If that map is right, and you live near a large river, I am sure there are plenty of authentic relics just laying in the fields waiting for you.

Good Luck, young man.
