We went up to an old abandoned school that's been closed for about 30 yrs or so. My wife found the only good coin there, a 1910 plain wheat cent. It was about 6" deep and she said the ace 250 said it was a penny. I was using my old heavy dinosaur Garrett deep seeker. We finally gave up there and went to a middle school where they use the field to practice every sport going on in town. I found a Toyota key that a friend wanted me to look for about 4 yrs ago. He told me his son lost it and I found it about 50 yards from where he said it was. BUT I FOUND IT!!!...We ended up with 12 clad quarters, 8 clad dimes, 10 nickels and one was a 1948-D and about 12 or so newer cents. I took her there because any time I want a bunch of clad I go there and sometimes I get lucky there and find a good ring. She gained some good experience there with the Ace 250. She found 2 small metal buttons just alike about 2 feet apart. I also have a "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS". It's the long piece with the slot in it. If anybody can ID this thanks a whole heap.

Sounds like a fun day for you two!

Congrats on your finds!

Nana :)

Wow, looks like a great day for you two. I see you are in Tenn. Could that long piece be CW related? I swear I've seen something like that on a CW relic site. What do I know? I'm learning too. ;D
Congrats.

Nice finds.

Your What is it, Is a Pump organ Reed.
most likely from the schools pump organ.
Actually it's what the reed would be connected to.
the thin strip of metal that is in the middle is what is
left of the reed. Many of them have a letter stamped on them.
Look close for a Musical Note Letter. A, C ?
This is NOT a guess, This is what it is 8)

Although these are a Newer type,
not singles.
IF you turn yours over & compare
it to one of these. You will see the resemblence.

Potato peeler?....you're WAY OFF Ed...and I'm surprised you missed the correct ID of it because you own one yourself...(it's a nose hair trimmer circa 1882)

Oh crap!...I keep thinking these threads are AP's liar thread

NEVER MIND

It's gonna take the "newbie" guy to properly I.D. this thing.... Since it was found near an old school it's obvious it is from a school desk with a lifting lid. The item is a "lid track" for alignment and the slowing down of a closing desk top. It kept lil fingers from being slammed. Similar to one used on a toy box lid.

It is 100% for sure an organ reed. Found about 4-5 of them at different lengths at the one rome school house I am currently excavating for a local historical society
