A gallon of oysters. Looks like Costco wasn't the first with that idea.

I was kind of waiting to see if anyone actually noticed that this is a pretty rare and valuable can, even in this condition. That's why I didn't add any supporting text or information. After more than 200 views though, no one noticed. I would have.

Here's a small one-

I didn't know the value... But the first thing I noticed other than oysters & the name was the 1 gallon! I thought OMG who buys a gallon of oysters! I guess a restaurant?

Wow, other than oyster bar decor i didn't know there was a thriving oyster can collector market! Must be similar to the beer can collecting crowd.

People collect anything and everything. Its hard to know it all. Personally, I would have walked right by that can at a yard sale with a $1 sticker on it and wouldn't have looked twice at it. Great catch!

Did you know it was valuable before you bought it? I would have thought, who keeps empty cans for so many years? Why didn't they throw it out?? LOL. Excellent find!

Good one diggs, I never gave any thought on looking in to that thing. I just thought what ever makes your day. Lesson Learn and as it is said not all that glitters gold. Good move on that one. What they say at the yard sale. You can just have that old can if you like it that much?.

Word of warning: Some folks out there hate cans, so be careful

No, I didn't know the value at the time. I asked how much for this old can. She said .50, it was from my home state (even though i'm partial to blue crab, lol) and even though it's a little beat up, the graphics were still ok, so it was a no brainer at that price. It was sticking out like a sore thumb because nothing else at the sale was close to being related to it. It was sitting with a pile of clothes on the ground. I brushed a couple Haitians aside to get it.

That movie never gets old! A true classic!
Comedy certainly did reach a pinnacle in the 1970s. Be sure to give us a heads-up on what you sell this high dollar can for Digg's
