British general service button made after 1835. Any backmark?

No offense, but although Smokeythecat deserves the credit for correctly identifying your buddy's button, it dates from 1902 to 1952, according to a major relic-detecting website in Britain. Go to the link below and scroll down to their British Military button-ID page to the "General Service and Named Regiments" buttons.
