Another full day in the fields today with Tony. Our plan was to concentrate on finding new sites so we got out early with a field just outside of town in mind. First door we knocked on we got permission and we were off to the races. The field was very quiet and we quickly determined that there was no site here. After about an hour we were getting ready to call it when Tony calls me over to show me a toy Roy Rogers cap gun. Neat little find for Tony and that was the only thing found. I made one more line up by a fence and got a solid target about 50 feet from where Tony dug the toy gun. Flipped it out and immediately called Tony over. I knew right away it was real but couldn't identify it...no markings. NOLA-Ken identified it as an open top pocket revolver! Going to do some Googling to see if I can positively identify it but apparently these were pretty common in the late 1800s so probably not possible.

Also managed the usual things from our next site including a couple Vickie coppers and a glass Santa that I eyeballed with the meat grinder crank at a surface dump.

That is a nice collection of finds especially the hand gun.Congrats.

No luck on hunt 2 for the missing side plate. Will try the next field on my next run.

I like that old Pump handle wrench lot older than gun:headbang:

The "wrench" is the crank from a hand-turned ice cream freezer.

Sweet finds there...with serial number...awesome

Well, I was wrong! I knew I had seen one of those somewhere. Turns out it is the crank handle from a Universal meat grinder. I have a couple of them (bought one, inherited one). Here's a pic of one of them.

That's what I found as well but then thought that maybe the crank was used on other implements such as ice cream churners, washing machines, etc.
