I Found a Brass Cannon Barrel Flintlock Pistol!!!, Beautiful Gilt Button & More!!!

I had a GREAT hunt Saturday & found something that is near the top as far as my best finds go! I found an 18th century flintlock pistol!!! It has a brass "cannon" barrel & is considered a "box lock". These are sometimes referred to as boot or muff pistols. My buddy Chuck & I stumbled onto a small house site in the woods & this was right by the pile of rocks from the chimney, not even an inch deep! Just think of the stories it could tell! I haven't been able to track down the exact gun, any help would be great (it does have a maker's mark). I found a second piece to the gun & didn't realize it until cleaning my finds today. I also found a beautiful gold gilt 2 piece button & some other common house-related relics. Great day for sure! 1_flintlock.pngives_kendrick_button.png2_flintlock.png3_flintlock.png4_side_view_missing_side_flint.pngflintinside.png6_flintlock.pngtoe_aps.pngcostume.pngmisc_crap1.pngmisc_crap.png

Man , what a haul..that barrel alone is sweeet!
One of your question marked pieces may be the end broken off a trigger guard.

I never get tired of seeing those old pistol barrels! Leaves hope of finding one myself. My Uncle Bill found one on our last hunt together!
I'm pretty sure the proof mark is from Liege Belgium, they all seem to have that one

Wow that's incredible man! I LOVE that. BANNER vote coming from me

Thanks! I'm very happy! Weipert Austria/Hungary is what someone else identified the marks as. A close friend told me that it was likely Hungarian or Belgian.

Now that is something you sure don't find everyday! WOW Congrats on some wonderful digs!!

That thing is just awesome. It never gets old seeing people post those boot pistols and its something I would absolutely love to find one day. Perhaps go back and run in 0 disc or all metal in a 5' or so radius from where the barrel was and see if you can find any of the iron parts. Would be sweet to find the hammer or the frizzen to do electrolysis on. Killer find man.

Very nice find Mangum.

Glad to see that you had a productive weekend. Congrats.

Congratulations Mangum, That is a bucket-list find for most of us. It will make a wonderful display and conversation piece for you! Sub 8-)

It was found right beside the chimney pile, lots of iron signals. I think I would just have to dig it out & sift. No telling what else would turn up.
