i need help on this buckle from the what is it ? experts :)
dug up at a circa 1850's house on 11-12-08 it's 1 3/16 wide and 1 1/16 long with out the
attached piece the small attached piece has writing on it and it took me till today to figure it
out left side says PAT i can only see the T the top has APRIL and 2 numbers ?? and the
right side i see 27 so i assume it's from 1927 ? it all seems to be thin brass except maybe
the tongue ? it's pitted on the end but i have seen pitted brass before
what i'd like to know is what was this buckle used for ?? i'm hoping maybe a suspender
buckle ?? i'm sure someone on here saw or dug one like this and has the answer for me

and the small attached piece with the letters
IMG_5186_2.webp

thanks for looking :)

thanks for getting back to me kuger :) i assume you showed him a photo of mine 1860 - 187?
close enough for me i just want to be able to explain what all the relics i have in the display case
were used for to the owner of the property
i was just looking at a photo someone posted in My Collections there must be 200 buckles in it
there are 2 of my type in it only problem i just got the photo not the person that posted it :(
this might have been 2 - 5 yrs ago ? i hope you can locate yours some day if you do look for a
patent date good luck out there

Might be a "spur" strap buckle...
hello Montana Jim :) i've never heard that term before so i looked at 7 sites on the web titled
19th century spur strap buckle and none that i saw looked similar to this one i'm gonna see if
i can find kugers post HH

I looked through the first hundred of his posts then put the project on hold. If he would post a link, it would be much appreciated. I can't find a post of his that contains the word "suspender" with the search feature... :(
thanks for the help and time you're putting in this BuckelBoy  i do appreciate it :)
i started at page 2 and i got to page 20 i saw 2 or 3 posts by him an i see it goes to page 41
i'll keep going to 41 by tonight or tomorrow for all i know there could be a hundred pages lol
good luck out there !!

There are easier ways to do everything ;D
I just searched for any post with 'suspender buckle' in it - and of the 2 and a bit pages, kuger did not start any of the threads, so I think we can assume as kuger suggests, he was on another site at the time.

I know--and I tried that first. But the search feature on this forum sometimes leaves things to be desired--which I am Certain you probably know as well!
