Does anyone have an idea on average what the dollar value in precious metals is in the average computer? I've seen quite a few lately at yard sales, flea markets and auctions and was wondering how much or how little should I bid or offer for them?

Well this is what I pay for computers. $0.00 $1.00 $1.50 each.
Again (like my post much higher up in this thread) I get laughed at for a lowball price or they are eager to help me load it in my car. I sell the circuit boards to the same guy that buys my phones. My profit is at least 100% to 200%

I have been trying very hard to buy OLD computers at yard sales. I ALWAYS offer $2 per tower but they ALWAYS want at least $5.

i wonder if your 2500+ phone vendor is just diving into the recycle bins at schools and other public places for those .

Good question that I can't answer. About 20% of the phones I buy from hermanos grande are caked in mud, broken in half or have shattered screens. It does not matter cause all the gold is still there.

maybe the kids are dump diving : )

I always tell them all computers are for recycling. I also have a recycling website and business cards.

I never pay over $1.50, when someone wants more I just remind them I tear it apart and I only get $5-6 for the good parts and I need to make some kind of profit.

Also the fact that here in Calif. they are supposed to go into Hazmat recycling.

I expect a check for $550 - $600 in a few weeks.

Jack just got back to me, check is in the mail today for $542 so my calc was right in there.
