i could use some help!!

today redcardhack and i drove 65miles one way to pick up a garrett ultra gta 350...the woman who was selling it said it worked fine but needed batteries..so we brought new ones with us..anyway we replaced the old batteries. the main unit worked as it should have but it wouldn't pick up anything...would any of you know anything about this problem? i'm thinking it could be in the coil..i really don't want to send it to garrett for repair..
if one of you have a coil your not using i would love to try it out..of course i'll pay you for it...just trying to have a back up detector..i did try a dbl.d coil from a ace 350 but still didn't work.....
on a good note....she wanted 50 for it...when it didn't work 25...as we left she gave it to us...so it was a good day...on the way home we hit a park and between us we had 4.53 in clad...

I don't have a coil but a couple of ideas to try. First I'd check to see if you have the right coil to match the machine - check the manufacturers website to see if your coil matches the one they show on the machine. If it does, then take a look at some online sellers such as Metal Detectors.com that have return policies on coils, so you can buy a new one, try it and return it if the machine still doesn't work.

Also, did you get a manual with the machine? If not look it up online just in case there is something incorrect set on the machine. If all that doesn't work, then it's time to send it in for repairs.
