It's really personal preference ,a lot of people get confused with 31.104 gr. to the oz. ,most people think of 28 gr. [dealers oz. ] which can be advantageous to one side or the other . I don't really sell much , But am a AVID dredger ,I use dwt. for my convenience - easier math . always comes out right . jewelers use that method for a reason .... dealers [street ,not precious metals ] use grams and then short you on the weight . then they wonder where all there money went ............ If a certain method works for you ,fine use it . I'll stick to dwt's ...... All these years it still works fine for me . old school rulestrdhrdr007 said:I like to use dwt BECAUSE there are 20 to an ounce. It's a lot easier to do the math without a calculator when you aren't trying to divide by 31 all the time......... That does make it a pain to shift gears & think in grams when I'm shipping to a refiner but it's easier for me in the long run. I spend a lot more time buying than I do selling.
