The KKK was/is an organization that not only promoted hatred for blacks, but also catholics and jews. In the 1930s they burned a huge cross hanging from a cliff overlooking a catholic retreat/camp in Upper Nyack, NY. My fifth grade teacher witnessed this event. Bad JuJu all around with those folks.

I agree history is history. We can't allow it to be revised or erased. I had no idea there was anything like those pieces. Wonder who manufactured them?

Gate City Mfg. made all early KKK regalia, the owner was some sort of big wig in the Clan, none of the stuff was marked because of maintaining good business relations with the general public.

I collect Nazi dress daggers, I hate politics. I’m not a Nazi, nor am I afraid of what the swastika stands for. Good, bad, or ugly, history is history and I collect small pieces of it. As an ironic aside, at the larger Militaria shows most of the high end dealers in Nazi memorabilia seem to be Jewish. I guess turn around, at any level, is fair play.

Bet you have close to 1600 bucks there. Heck of a deal man. Hope you left your number with the fella just in case he found some more stuff he wanted to sell crazy cheap. Catch folks in a mood like that is when you start making offers on items like his father house, low ball the heck out of him, help him kill that uncomfortable feeling.

I met a guy who was selling his grandfather’s coin collection and stumbled upon this in a box rapped in a towel. He didn’t feel comfortable with it, sooooo I wanting him to be uncomfortable I offered him $50 to help him out.

History is history the good, the bad and the ugly and I love all history.

Several years ago a friend leased the upper floor of building in a small town near here. There was an opening to an attic which he explored. He found a cardboard box full of Klan stuff. Evidently, the building was used by the local Klan for their meetings. The last items with dates were from the 30's. They must have just quit and walked away back then. The book with the names of the members was there, and the family names from 90 yrs. ago are still the same as many family names still here today. The decendents of those members would love to have that book, and burn it! Most of the items were paper. There were several Hymn books, and a cloth patch like they wore on their white robes. Gary

I remember setting up at the swap meet in Carlisle Pa. back in the 80’s and it seemed that everywhere you looked was phony Clan stuff for sale, for the biker trade I think, I remember getting the impression that alot of it never existed in the first place, like those pocket knives and watches. It seemed like all that marketing stuff Mc Donalds , etc puts out. The Klan also had lodge swords but I haven’t been able to get my hands on one yet, I’ve seen them but not for sale.
