yep 1.05 for the 7 shot 22 and 19 cents for 100 rounds of 22 "short" ammo --total cost for the whole thing 1 dollar 24 cents (plus shipping cost ) --about a day and a quarters wages --many folks made $1 a day for wages back then

north american arms to this day still makes a "mini revovler" $180 --a 5 shot 22 short --single action with a slot safety -- all 5 rounds are put in the the cylinder and is turned 1/2 way to the safety slot --- between each bullet hole in the cylinder there is a ' safety notch"so the guns hammer does not 'rest" on the rimfire round while "carrying" -- the hammer is lowered into the "notch" for safe carrying --when the hammer is cocked back for firing the cylinder rotates the bullet into firing position to fire--for the the next round , cock the hammer back squeeze trigger repeat till empty -- to reload one must remove the whole cydlinder by taking out the center "rod" -putting ammo in the cylinder and then replacing it and replacing the rod (a rather slow process) -- but for 5 easy to carry "up close" shots its great lil "pocket" gun.
Not so great . Long rifle chambering is just as concealable . Both will fit in a Marboro box in your shirt pocket .
Difference is that I have killed a lot of whitetail deer (with a Ruger .22 autoloader with long rifle hollow points) .
In a desperate situation (of my own making) I sneaked my NAA .22short from the Marlboro box in my shirt pocket and shot an adversary between the eyes across a bar table . Knocked him colder than a wedge . That little short followed his skull around to the back and exited through his hairline without ever penetrating the skull .I traded it for the long rifle model after that .

well once hes out cold --you can always follow up with a second shot * if you so desire (shorts are often called mob "BOH bullets" as in Back Of the Head ) - if you want real "up close' killing power go with the 22 mag version -- it is the real deal.

Mag doesn't fit in Marlboro box as well . My point was well made with the short ; that time . I traded up for more positive results if there was a 'next time'.

Im curious the situation and outcome. Im assuming it was self defense. Did the adversary have a gun/weapon? Did the police find the shooting justifiable?

uh if he is smart I think he will avoid you -- getting shot in the face at point blank range will generally make folks skittish of pissing you off in the future , if they got any smarts at all -- however there are a few hardcase types out there that might try to "back shoot or surprize ambush " shoot you in return (often with either with a shotgun loaded with buckshot or a high power rifle) -- you got to carefully think of which type this dude is and if theres the slightest bit of doubt in your mind --finish what you started.

well big cy -- it had to be justifible -- because if it wasn't he would have gotten arrested for attempted murder * and done time and had a felony record -- and thus he could not have "legally" obtained the 22 long pistol :read2:

Wasnt it Plaxico Burriss the football player that spent time in prison when his gun fell out of his pocket in a bar? I never shot anyone in a bar and I would still like to hear the story from truckinbutch if he wants to tell it..

If you shoot someone, even justifiable, and that person doesnt die, you can be sued.

The kind of places I hung out in the first 30 years of my life were not often visited by law enforcement . No cops were involved .
Professional disagreement . Bad judgement on his part . He knew he was armed and didn't think I was . Nearly cost him his life .
Point was that .22short is unreliable as a defensive round .

Welcome to the forum and congrats on finding a really neat pistol. Does he need to spray the bullets with WD-40 to deactivate them? Breezie

No. At that EXCAVATED pistol's age, the primer in those little rimfire-primed cartridges is kaput, and so is the powder.
